Those look about right to me. Don't forget that the start tile and the tile you're waiting to place count as tiles too so it makes sense that there should be 70 left "in the bag" or pile or whatever. Similarly, there are 78 tiles in your second screenshot (two in play and 76 left to be played) which suggests to me that the starting tile is being reused rather than discarded. I think.
ScreenShot1 was with the base game, no expansions.

If there are 72 tiles in the base game, there should be 71 left with the starting tile placed.

It is showing 70 left, not 71.  Having 70 left with one placed only works if you are starting with 71.

There is also a cccf tile waiting to be placed which is not included in the 70 remaining tiles.

Where?  What tile???   ;)

Duh!  I guess I missed that.....thanks for the clarification.

And your patience!

Since the screen shot of the base game plus one mini expansion shows 76, plus one tile placed, plus one tile waiting to be placed - does this mean it started with 72 tiles?

No problem at all. Thanks for actually taking the time to test my random theories!

And regarding the second screen shot, the numbers add up to 78 which can only mean that it kept the original starting tile...

The Carcassonne Central World Cup will begin next month!

If you would still like to take part but have not yet posted on this thread to express your interest then please do so before 1st August! Depending on number of participants, everyone should get to play at least three games at the group stage before the top 2 players from each group will advance to the knock-out stage (quarter-finals, semi-finals, final).

There will be a special souvenir for everyone who takes part as well as further prizes for those who reach the knock-out stage and something very special indeed for the eventual winner. So sign up now, download the latest version of JCloisterZone if you haven’t already (it’s freely available from http://jcloisterzone.com/en/) and get practising!

More info to come between now and 1st August, so stay tuned!  8)

I can't play until 5th August at the earliest, but if that's ok for everyone else, then I'm in! I'd also need to finish all games before 11th September.

My holidays start on that day, I will be away for a week, the other days I will be away for the day trips. I do not know when I'll be sure to participate.

His blade defends the helpless.
His might upholds the weak.
His word speaks only truth.
His wrath undoes the wicked.

Hi monwil, welcome to the forums, it's good to have you with us!

I will have some more information for you in about a week, until then I'd recommend downloading JCloisterZone and playing with it a bit to get used to it.

Good luck!

My personal preference would be to use only R1, R2, I&C, T&B and phantom but otherwise I'm fine with Option 1.

I could represent either Canada or my country of residence which is The Netherlands if there are no Dutch players entering the competition.

OK, so it seems we have 19 players so far:

- danisthirty
- Yellow
- Jéré
- MrNumbers
- evmillan
- rfielder
- jungleboy
- Carcking
- quevy
- MrsNumbers (*)
- mas9dj
- Rosco
- monwil
- farin
- Andrew the Ambo
- AlbinoAsian
- BabyGamer
- RSV
- Weeby-Vuit

(*) not member of Carcassonne Central yet - please encourage them to sign up soon!

It would be good if we could reach a total of 20 people as this would mean starting with five players per group but four per group is just as good as the groups would still be even.

But if you are aware of anyone who has said they'd like to play but hasn't signed up yet then please remind them that the deadline is the end of July and that the eventual winner will be receiving a set of original "Cathars" tiles!

In other news, I've written an outline of how the competition is going to take place. So for full details, click here: http://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=911

Not long to go now! Any questions, please ask!

Visited with Chris and Kathy this past weekend, and their work lives do not allow them the time to commit to playing.  Very busy professionals, with Chris flying to all parts of Canada and eastern US regularly, and Kathy involved in several research projects.

We were able to get in one game with them and their son.  Started about 8:30PM Saturday and finished at 2:00AM Sunday.

Sorry, this does cut down the number of people available.....
