Question #17: The
Snowman places this tile on
Yellow's behalf.
Yellow completed the acrobat pyramid in a previous turn and the player wants to score it now. The big top has to be scored before moving to the tile just placed too. How many points does each player score?
Notes:- This is a scoring during the game and the game goes on. There is no after-the-game scoring involved.
Answer #17: In this scenario we have the following sequence of events:
1) The acrobat pyramid is scored and its meeples are removed. This scoring does not trigger the scoring of the adjacent castle occupied by
Blue.
2) The completed features are scored and the meeples on them removed:
- The road occupied by
Red - The city occupied by
Yellow - The castle occupied by
Black, triggered by the completion of the adjacent city occupied by
Yellow.
3) The big top is scored before moving. It will only take into consideration the
Black Farmer and
Blue Castle Lord. Their owners will receive 3 points per meeple as indicated on the token under the big top. All the other meeples have been removed before this scoring takes place, so they are not considered.
Let's proceed...
1) Scoring the acrobat pyramid:
Red scores 5 points (1 acrobat x 5 points/acrobat).
Yellow scores 10 points (2 acrobat x 5 points/acrobat).
2) Scoring the features:
The
Red Ringmaster receives 14 points (4 points for the road + 10 points for the ringmaster bonus):
- 4 points for the road (4 tiles x 1 point/tile)
- 10 points for the ringmaster bonus ( (1 adjacent acrobat pace + 4 neighboring circus spaces) x 2 points = 5 x 2 points)
The
Yellow Ringmaster scores 16 points (6 points for the city + 10 points for the ringmaster bonus):
- 6 points for the city (3 tiles x 2 points/tile)
- 10 points for the ringmaster bonus ( (1 adjacent acrobat space + 4 neighboring circus spaces) x 2 points = 5 x 2 points)
The
Black Ringmaster scores the same points as the city occupied by the
Yellow Ringmaster is worth. The ringmaster bonus is not part of the city scoring and it is not considered. Therefore:
The
Black Ringmaster scores 6 points for the city.
Note that
Black does not receive any bonus for the
Black Ringmaster, since it is placed in a castle. The rules indicate that the ringmaster bonus can only be received if the ringmaster is on a basic feature: road, city, monastery or field.
3) Scoring the big top:
After removing all the meeples in the completed features, the only players receiving points for the big top are the following:
-
Black scores 3 points (1 meeple x 3 points/meeple) for the
Black Farmer-
Blue scores 3 points (1 meeple x 3 points/meeple) for the
Blue Castle Lord.
Bottomline:-
Black scores 9 points (6 points for the castle + 3 points for the big top).
-
Blue scores 3 points for the big top points.
-
Red will score 19 points (5 points for the acrobat pyramid + 4 points for the road + 10 points for the ringmaster bonus).
-
Yellow will score 26 points (10 points for the acrobat pyramid + 6 points for the city + 10 points for the ringmaster bonus).
