Here are some Catapult tokens where I have added a coloured border to them with enough for 12 players:
(Click the image to go to a higher resolution version which should be fit for 300dpi printing.) Also included are the extra 6 coloured tunnel tokens. Print two copies if you want to have the colour border on both sides of the Catapult tokens. You can then either stick them on the existing tokens or use spare/blank Carcassonne tiles or any other spare thick cardboard and cut to size. 4
General / Re: Carcassonne for 8 Players« on: January 28, 2015, 02:03:32 AM »This topic has sort of been discussed before, but some new expansions have emerged since then, and I'm always interested in new ideas: Thanks Scott, I have tried to modify my previous post, items in italics are derived from the assumption that we need "more" playing pieces because there are more than 6 players. As far as I can see, the only expansion describing more than 6 players is the Halflings. I have also added rule clarification where I can (in bold, from the S-CAR v7.3) from the corresponding "Preparation" sections. Quote If we consider each extra player in a game with more than 6 players (making sure players are no worse off than with 6 players), then each player will need: Maybe we can get clarification from HiG? Preferably to at least 12 players? P.S. Little Buildings is available (for €2.99) from cundco.de 5

Wow! This is an amazing topic - so many details I've missed when trying to prepare for a 7+ player game (Not had one yet, but I have 9 player-sets now). I had only thought about the score tiles, meeples and abbey tiles.
So, the 8-Player Kit for a MegaGame includes: If we consider each extra player in a game with more than 6 players (making sure players are no worse off than with 6 players), then each player will need: – 1 Complete Follower and Figure Sets (in appropriate color) [Alternate colour Phantoms not available Carcatronn ] – 1 pair of Tunnel tokens (in appropriate color) [Maybe you should also add enough tunnel entrances on tiles for the number of players too.] – 1 of each Little Buildings (3 Buildings total) – 5 Extra Tower pieces – 2 Extra Bridges – 2 Extra Castles – 1 Extra 50/100 counters – 1 Abbey Tile – 2 Halfling Tiles – 1 of each type of catapult token (These could be shared without much difficulty) Anything else we've missed? 7

I haven't a lot of time to post at the moment, when I do have some more time, I will show off my collection and customised Big Box to you all. 8

The promotion is over now right?
This is the poem Carla and I submitted (well she actually wrote it, and I just clicked the buttons on the website): Dear Santa Claus, with thoughts of snow, I write to you care of CundCo. There are so many things I wished To put down on my Christmas list. But first of these, if I speak plain, Would be the tile "Spiel '14". I really hope they're not all gone 'Cause I love playing Carcassonne! For those of you who aren't fluent in german - 14 is spelled "vierzehn" 9

General / Re: someone selling fan expansions again« on: November 07, 2014, 04:56:09 AM »What you guys think about this. If you check their completed listings you can see they have made quite a bit of profit from spielmaterial.de's wooden pieces/ their own rules. I think some collectors only look at ebay and seemingly bid high amounts on something they haven't seen before - this seller has found a good opportunity to take advantage of that sort of mentality. Probably legally fine though 11

The Marketplace / Re: Wheel of Fortune« on: November 04, 2014, 07:46:07 AM »
I just wanted to weigh in on this topic again - I'm still trying to decide if I need to get Wheel of Fortune AND Big Box 5, or only one.
Either way I have done some research on this "expansion" and where to buy it. I'm pretty sure Wheel of Fortune is only available in English (The Wheel of Fortune), Dutch (Het Rad van Fortuin) and German Languages (Das Schicksalsrad) - however the new version included with Big Box 5 (which is available in most of our countries) has a language-independent wheel (it doesn't have any text on it). This might be better suited. Although if you want to have all of the tiles with the watermark you will need to get the stand-alone version, in BB5 only 12 tiles are watermarked. The Wheel of Fortune and Das Schicksalsrad are both out of print - Het Rad van Fortuin is the only version in print, although you may be able to find the other two if you are lucky or are happy to pay a lot. Das Schicksalsrad also includes a novel, in German, if that interests you. A lot of online shops in The Netherlands only delivery to their own country (and Belgium too usually) - so finding a way to get Het Rad van Fortuin delivered to you can be difficult. The following shops deliver to the UK (and should to other countries too) - I have listed the price of the game and the shipping cost to the UK:
They are all around the same price but the shipping costs vary greatly. Big Box 5 can be had for €42 (plus shipping) on Amazon.de and would, for example, cost about €7.50 for shipping to the UK. Hopefully this is of use to some of you. Happy Shopping! 13
Official Rules / Re: Halflings interaction with other expansions.« on: October 30, 2014, 11:01:52 AM »
It's my understanding that a "tile", when it comes to interactions with the halflings, means the square area where either a normal, half tile or two half tiles is located. The "gaps" left by the use of a single triangle tile are only relevant in regards to completion/continuation of features (roads/farms/cities).
I base this on the way the rules describe the halflings and cloisters: Quote from: Wamboyil's English translation of the Rules Cloisters: When playing with this expansion, a cloister is considered to be completed even if one or more of its surrounding tiles are triangular tiles. In this case, a triangular tile scores as a normal landscape tile (1 point per tile surrounding the cloister). If there are 2 triangular tiles in the same square “space”, they still only count as 1 point (together) for scoring a cloister. If that's correct then: In the first picture, you would count 1, 2, 3 (the two triangle tiles), 4 rather than - 1,2,3,4,5 where 3 and 4 are the two triangle tiles. In the "finishing a City" picture, city parts 4 and 5 only count as one tile. In the "Cloisters and Darmstadt" picture, Green gets 3 (for majority of meeples) and Grey gets 7 (1 for the cloister, 6 for the surrounding tile spaces that have been occupied by at least 1 tile). In the second of these pictures, Triangle tile 8 counts as a normal tile for the cloister and tiles 6 and 7 count as 1 tile. With The Flier examples, I would also say that the 2 triangle tiles together count as 1 tile. It might be safe to assume that 2 adjacent triangle tiles, that have been placed so as to form a normal square tile, are functionally identical to a normal square tile. 14
News and Events / Re: another new Mini-Expansion "Carcassonne - Darmstadt"« on: October 29, 2014, 09:13:16 AM »
For anyone who wants to get their hands on this, I suggest you wait until after the "Darmstadt Spielt" in the middle of November. They are going to try and make the tile sheet available online for those that can't attend - should be cheaper than the €20+ they're going for on ebay.de at the moment.
