Title: Is there an option to have JCloister play in a non competitive mode?
Post by: loki on September 07, 2015, 08:21:47 AM
I must confess that I do not play JCloister as often as I would like to.

To be honest once the game starts to attempt to get it's followers onto one of my cities, my eyes just glaze over and I lose interest.

Is there a setting where the game will just focus on making the best use of it's own tiles and leave me alone to make the best of mine.

As an older player just looking to pass the time in a relaxing manner this would appeal to me.   :)

Not one that I can think of as it would require a fairly substantial re-writing of the AI code.

Have you tried playing without any opposition at all? That way you'll be left to your own devices and will get to decide what you do with 100% of the tiles...

Plus of course, you'll win every time! :) :(y)

What Dan means is to play as a one player game trying to get the highest score you can.  Carcassonne Solitaire!

It's definitely a much more relaxed way to play Carcassonne. Although it can be a bit weird at first, getting out of that "if I don't claim it someone else will!" frame of mind and constantly having to remind yourself that there's nobody else to claim anything!
