Author Topic: Nottingham meet up in Summer 2016 (Read 15626 times)

As things stand, it looks like JT Atomico, Decar and myself have said that we can meet up next Sunday. Whilst this is great, it would be good if a few others could join us too. Whilst I understand it may be a long way for some to travel on this occasion, I think that it's good if we can vary the location of our meet ups - we get to experience different venues and it allows people who couldn't attend previous gatherings an opportunity which may be closer to home.

Given that Rosco has stated he would like to attend but unfortunately can't make this date, then I'm wondering if we should re-schedule this for sometime in August / September - what do you all think?

I am free on both Sun 14/8 and 21/8 should these dates are better for folks, although my boys won't be able to join us as they'll be away. Alternatively we could look at a w/end after the schools have returned and life for those of us with kids is a bit more settled as holidays are over and routines are re-established.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Just to let you know I've created a poll to try and capture numbers available for different dates, which will be open for 7 days (max). It would be helpful if you could post a message on the thread so we know who is available when, and obviously, please only vote if you are intending to join us!

PS Re: possible dates in Sept, I would much rather that we met up on a Sunday rather than a Saturday seeing as the football season will have started by then.

I am no longer free on the original date. I made other plans because I thought we had decided to cancel, sorry!

The first two August dates suit me though.

No worries, glad you can make some of the other dates.

Let's officially cancel the July date here and now then. I'll leave it in the poll, but rename it or something to avoid confusion.

Just wondering if anyone else is interested in joining us?

Would it make a difference if...

we found an alternative venue;
met on a Saturday rather than Sunday;
waited until after the summer holidays were over; or
planned to spend the day just playing Carc and spinoffs rather than a selection of board games?

Hi Rich,

I'm, flexible for venues. I'd probably prefer Saturday given the distance, but happy either way. I'm pretty flexible with dates too, I've got a few things coming up in September, but that's after holiday season. I'd love to use the time to play a bit of Carc and make sure some other games hit the table too!

Thanks Decar, glad you're still wanting to meet up (particularly given the distance). I might be free on Sat 13/8 if that works better for people, although Sun 21/8 would be my preferred date next month if I'm honest.

Rosco - do you know yet which of the proposed dates you can make?

21/8 is now the only date that I can make, so it would be great if we could make that work. However I've been lucky enough to make it to a couple of the meet its already, so prioritise other people if necessary!

Thanks for the update JT Atomico. Sun 21/8 would be preferable for me too, unless we look at dates in Sep. I'd like as many people as possible to attend if we can. Once we've settled on a date I'll see if a few friends (and relative board game newbies) are free to join us as they'd expressed interest when I mentioned it a few weeks back.
