I'm in chatroom now, too. Online Server did not work a few weeks ago. Glad, if that changed again. :)

Ah ok, I didn't know. It's just that I used it extensively during the last 3 tournaments without any problems.

If anything goes wrong with the online server just save the game and email it to me. I'm back home from work now so can help with hosting if necessary.

Game went well, thanks. And I even finally won a game in this competition! 221:209

I had a good start with very lucky tile draw, outwinning the 16 point city with two wine and one textile, CarcinFool built with my double meeple, while he failed to do the same with the big city, I built on top of the map. So two of the trade goods, I was quite confident to get early on, and it turned out, I finally got them. Yet, when the farm battle started, the game got open again, and I was not secure of my win, till the result was displayed.

Wow, what an interesting result! Nice to see that everyone has at least one win. Congratulations Hounk :) and commiserations CarcinFool :(

Obviously the results could still change if a sixth person does join our group, but for the sake of argument I'm going to assume that nobody is which means that khalid was won the group with 8 points and Hounk will be 4th or 5th with 2 points.

I have 4 points and CarcinFool and Rosco both have 2 points, but must play each other, so one of them will almost certainly end up with 4 points (unless it's a draw).

This means that the fight for 2nd place in our group is still very much alive and well and will be determined by PD. My PD is 37. Rosco is on 19 and CarcinFool is on -63. So if Rosco wins the final game by 19 points or more he will finish the group with 4 points and 38+ PD for 2nd place (I'd be 3rd). If he wins by less than 19 points, I'd be 2nd and he'd be third.

If CarcinFool wins by 101 points or more, he would finish with 4 points and 38+ for 2nd place (I'd be 3rd). If he wins by less than 101 points, I will be 2nd and he will be 3rd.

So it appears that there is still a lot to play for. How much are tickets to watch the Rosco vs. Carcinfool match? :) :(y)

9 games played, 6 left (5 of them either won't happen or will involve substitute player).

Rosco -- I can try to play tonight, but I'm not sure yet I can make it. I'll try to connect to the chat room around 4:30 pm EST. Otherwise, are you around this weekend sometime?

Rosco and I played a fun and tight game. As he mentioned it was close the whole way. I'm not 100% sure about this, but I don't think either of us was ahead by more than 10-15 points at any time.

I was a little bitter at the end because 2 of the last 4 pieces would have let me complete my large 13-tile, 3-pennant, 2-cloth city, but Rosco got both pieces on his last two turns. My builder spent much of the second half of the game languishing in that city -- for about 15 turns I never got a piece that I could add to get an extra turn. If I had gotten one of those pieces it would have been +14 city points , +10 trade goods points, +3 field points, and then 3 or 6 extra field points from placing another farmer on my extra builder turn.

But I can't be too bitter because I still wouldn't have moved on to the next round since I needed to win by 100+ points. ;-)

Fun tourney! Thanks for organizing Dan!

Good game, guys!

But you did another thing - didn't let Rosco to qualify to knock-out stage! He needed 6 more points to beat Danisthirty! :) Now, if nobody will replace laura82, khalidqasrawi and danisthirty will go to the next stage (however, khalidqasrawi qualifies anyway, regardless of presence of substitute player).

Technically it's not Monday everywhere in the World yet, but I think it's time to close the gate for the possible substitute player in Group D and to publish final standings in this group. Congratulations to khalidqasrawi and danisthirty!

Yes, I agree. There is no point waiting forever. It looks like our group is concluded...

I am happy to have qualified for the next stage (albeit only very narrowly) but it is a shame for all of us that our group was missing a person :(
