I got to try Topiary and Azul last week.  Azul is literally a tile laying game  :P that plays well, but for us wasn't worth acquiring.  The most interesting thing about Topiary was the handicapped meeple.

A list without Isle of Skye and Cacao is no list at all.

This just seems to be a list of games.

I'd expect there to be a 'nine games like 7 Wonders' article, which is identical to this article except the section on 7 Wonders is replaced with a description of Carcassonne.

I think it's an OK list (as far as these click-bait lists go). I just expected it to be nine tile-laying games, but instead they picked three things about Carcassonne (tile-laying, building and claiming, and scoring points in different ways), and picked three other games that fit into each of those categories.

Side note: I was explaining the tile-laying game Palmyra before a play on Wednesday night and one of the players didn't seem into it, so she said, 'Let's just play Carcassonne. It's the same but easier. I played it last week.'
