My first boardgames would be ludo, chess and a game with the orginal tittle Afrikan tähti. Later came monopoly, scotland yard and risk. But the game that really opned my eyes for boardgames, was the first shogun. I remeber I where on a sleepover at my friend, and I refused to go to sleep before the game was finnished.

But boardgames never became a part of my life until I discovered carcassonne.

I don't know what my first game ever was—possibly Candyland or something. I played all the Hasbro and Milton Bradley classics when I was a kid. I also loved Don't Break the Ice and Ants-in-the-Pants. I played a bit of Star Wars Customizable Card Game in junior high and high school (I started playing it in 1995).

My first Eurogame was The Settlers of Catan in 2004, right after I got back from studying abroad in Wales. My roommates never moved past the base game but by 2006 I had a bunch of Catan expansions and a few spin-offs. I bought Carcassonne Big Box 2 in 2007 on a whim and have never regretted it. Since then, my collection has only expanded....

For me it wasn't anything strange or unusual just monopoly,  cluedo, scrabble, trivial pursuit, risk, and others like draughts, back gammon, boggle, rummikub.  We have always played lots of cards too but the big family game and one of the greatest games on earth is Racing Demon.  Trouble is no - one will play it with me as I always win it.

Next year at UK games expo - racing demon tournament? ☺

Edit:  I forgot a very important one we still play regularly - Sorry!   If you don't know it, it is like Ludo but actually fun and it is great for families with different aged children from as young as 3 or 4.
