Predictions and hopes for the next Carcassonne Around the world
« on: October 18, 2014, 10:44:55 AM »
Given that the trend of these spin-off fascinates me particularly, I started to think what could be the setting for the edition number 3.
I'd like a setting to the pole, as the icy fields, groomed trails instead of roads, marine areas instead of cities, and igloo instead of the cloisters.

The followers may be hunters, fishermen, couriers dog sledding, householders inside the igloo.

What is your prediction or your hope?

His blade defends the helpless.
His might upholds the weak.
His word speaks only truth.
His wrath undoes the wicked.

I think that would not be the next one; it has not been long enough since the Winter Edition. My guess would be that the next one will be set in Africa.

My guess is that the next one will be set on the internet and be called “Game Creators and Collectors”
just cut out the middleman and go straight for the dollar

At Burg Konradsheim in November this year - I will playtest the #3 together with Udo Schmitz (Carcassonne-on-Tour) and Klaus-Jürgen Wrede.

Udo told me, where the next "Around the world" will take place ;)
But still I don't know any details.

Are you allowed to divulge any news or should we keep guessing?

My guess is either Africa or Australia, although I love the idea that it could be at one of the poles.

I think the next Carcassonne around the world will be one  for another distribution partner and their market. Great markets are Germany, France, the Netherlands, USA and the englishspeaking world, the spanishspeaking world.

We've had
"South Seas" for the German HiG and
"Goldrush" for the english-american Z-Man Games,
there is 999 Games for the netherlands - one possibility,
for the french market probably there will be no extra "around the world" (but the new Carcassonne design?),
for the Spanish speaking world there is Devir and this is in my opinion the other choice, probably it could be a theme in south-america.

This is a good theory.

Australia would be a good one. I just thought of another idea: South America - jungles, Mayan temples, etc.
