This thread gave a lot of negative comments. So I never continued this.

I imagine the value goes up for collectors of car 1 , but down for the common people who now gather the pieces for carcassone v2.

You can now consider yourself the owner of a unique collection which will never be reprinted again.
For me it's now more an achievement value. Then worth something like money. (Regardless of what I said before)

I tried to convince the dutch boardgame publisher to sell the expansion, but they won't print it. Which is really sad because the game is great..

Here's the point.  Convince me why I should or shouldn't get the following expansions:
German Cathedrals
Darmstadt
Russian tiles

What I know I want/need:
Corn Circles I
La Porxada
Labyrinth

German Cathedrals, they are really nice in every aspect, unique mechanism, nice artwork, and just like kettlefish said, the last graphic from Doris.
Darmstadt. If you got everything. just get this one also.. the tiles aren't that great, the scoring is boring. but it's an official expansion.
Russian tiles. Just don't, the back is different and in my opinion not official.

La porxada is impossible to get, it's unofficial. Only a print to play tile. So you either need to make it yourself or let someone make it for you..

I have read all your comments and I'm slowly convincing myself to get the exclusive expansions for carcassonne II.

Like many said, I would not forgive myself if I ever start collecting the stuff that's now cheap.
But, I will wait with buying the carcassonne II edition itself. with maybe the possibility that a better box comes up (Big box?)

For a long time I was hesitant into getting Carcassonne 2.
Due to my believe that I wanted to boycot the new edition, hoping it would not replace the old one. At this moment I realise that carcassonne edition 1 is going to be exclusive to the ones who ever collected them.
I'm glad that I almost completed the first edition (I still don't have cult siege and creativity). But should it be a blessing that I completed it and simply be done with it?
I can't convince myself yet to buy carcassonne edition 2, although I really want to try and collect the new mechanics of watchtowers and the upcoming 10th expansion.
Is it the money? Is it my believe that I don't need it? I don't know... But something is really holding me back.

So I ask you, once again, to start the discussion.
or better..

Convince me into getting the new edition of Carcassonne.

How much personal input did you have over the look of the new edition of Carcassonne? Were there certain things in particular that you wanted to be included in the designs?

I like this question more then the wooden box question. Gives us a nice insight.

I asked to Hans im Glück and they told me Catapult will not be reprinted. At least not available in their plan for this year.
Other expansions will be available within this year. And mini-expansions are also planned.

It was for sale in the netherlands last december, sadly it was all sold out when I entered the store.
My mom finally got it for christmas.
I really like the graphics and the new mechanics of this game.
I would say get it. It's really nice.
