Does anybody here ever play Carcassonne via the Facebook app? It can seem a bit clunky, isn't all that pretty and doesn't feature any expansion other than Inns & Cathedrals but I like it as it enables me to get my Carcassonne fix when I haven't got any "real" opponents to play against.
Would love to play a game sometime if anyone here is interested?

I'd jump right in normally but Facebook to me is so messy I avoid it. Laugh, there's too much on the page can't find anything.
I get my fix with my recently purchased smartphone app. Nothing like taking the tram and playing a game of Carcassonne.
:meeple:

Nice. I like it. :(y)

And if you get the Tapatalk app, you can read this forum on the tram too. And even reply to posts like I am. 8-)

You don't need an app to use the forum from the mobile.

Is that the Carcassonne app for iOS that you're talking about? I have an Android phone and I've not heard many positive reviews of this version!

It's not required, but it sure makes things easier.

I can't live without that app...its one of only 6 apps that has a direct shortcut on my home screen :)

I think it is very easy to read and post on the forum without an app.
Can't imagine how an app could make that easier.

Hi guys!
Other things seems to have me all caught up but I do try to come here now and then to read new posts. It's so much fun reading about the enthusiasm and love for Carcassonne (as I am one myself).
Anyway, the app I use is for Smartphones and I think it's called Carcassonne V3.0.
1. It has the base game with the option of using River 2 also the choice for 2 or 4 points 2-tiles city rule.
2. Up to four players / computers can play though unsure if it supports internet and/or Bluetooth
3. It has a few achievements for example scoring a city with 10 tiles or completing 3 cloisters in one game.
4. Nice interface lets you play and continue play literally any time any second even if you quit the game.
At first, a drawback would seem how the computer places tiles, say a closter with a road only to complete a road for 2 points. But the countless times I played I seem to still loose every now and then so maybe not a bad strategy they are using. :meeple: Then again, I always play a four player game which can stir things up a bit.

I would steer away from the Facebook app.
It was clearly done without permission of the right owners.
Stick to the IOS or Android app!

Hi Artificial_Intelligence, welcome to the forums! :)
I'd never really thought about that, but I would have assumed that HiG would have done something to ban it by now if they didn't approve. Maybe it's something that they allow since it gets people into the game and encourages them to spend money on it? After all, it's not quite the same playing it via Facebook as it is having a group of friends round and playing together with a few expansions to boot. Just a thought anyway.
I downloaded the Carcassonne app for Android a few days ago and am loving it so far! The AI of the computer opponents is a little bit unpredictable (notably that they all seem to place farmers at the drop of a hat and will generally do anything to avoid giving any points away even when I'd judge it to be in their better interest to do so) but I'm enjoying going for the Achievements.

I bought Carcassonne for Android and iOS Carcassonne App, IMO the iOS App is better so far! The AI is too strong and I've improved my skills playing against the App, this one made me discover the Dark Side of Carcassonne (Cut Throat Style)

I had an email from Exozet (the developers behind the Carcassonne app for Android) today, the most exciting sentence of which is copied below:
"I already have some good news for you: We are currently working on a general graphic overhaul of the game, at least four new expansions (incl. Traders & Builders and Inns & Cathedrals) and an online multiplayer mode."
I know that the Android app isn't to everyone's liking and there's no mention of any improvement to the AI opponents but I for one cannot wait to see these changes implemented!

That is good news!

Wow with that and Kids of Carcassonne getting reprinted this year looks to be an awesome one!
