Carcassonne Maps: which are the best ones to start with?

Hello there,

After having played a lot of Carcassonne the past half year, I was thinking it's about time to try out one of the Carcassonne maps. However, there are plenty of them out there and as far as I understand each one of them plays out differently.

I was looking for a post in the forum to read reviews/rankings of the different maps, but I couldn't find something relevant (apologies if there's already a thread with this topic). I'd be interested in hearing the experience you've made with the different maps and of course any recommendations you might have!

Well. I played almost all official, so I have to tell, that most fun I have with fan map Slovakia

From officials, every one have something. You are limited to specific rules of map, because (except of Slovakia map) expansion tiles are play as vanilla tiles without displayed expansion features.

As your are new comer to maps, maybe start with C3 maps Germany or Nordics.

But wait for other recommendations, because I have more fan tiles like officials so I'm not good advisor

I've only played a few of the maps, but so far my partner and I have really enjoyed the Ukraine map the most of the ones we've tried, with the Americas tied for second.
