Mr and Mrs B1nder visits Gothenburg for a game with Paul
« on: May 31, 2015, 12:58:06 PM »
Hi everyone!

So today I finally got to meet someone from the forum face to face and it was great fun.

After an early dinner at a pub we went to a café that have board games on a shelf you can borrow and play with. Of course, B1nder had his own custom case with him with all the Carcassonne fun ever needed. I got a chance to see up close Half'n'Half and the 2-tilesized monasteries which I now realise that I am missing out on a lot of fun with these two minis.

We played a game using the base game, Traders'n'Builders, Inns'n'Cathedrals, 2xHalf'n'Halv tiles each and one of the 2-tilesided monastery each. Oh, and we also used the German monasteries (I think), the ones points up and down on X and Y axel.

Although I had accumulated what seemed to be a 100 point lead, the game ended with B1nder winning over me by ONE point, 193-192. Darn those monasteries! :D

Update: Forgot to mentioned we filmed the entire game as well.  :D

Hi B1nder (and wife) and Paul (Yellow) - it is nice that you all meet each other.
B1nder from Norway is traveling through his country and then visits Sweden.

In the chatroom B1nder told me about his travel. And I told him that Paul lives in the region of Sweden. And I told Paul it would be nice if they organize a meeting together. I am happy that it worked well.

Paul - the double size landscape tiles are "Castles in Germany (Burgen in Deutschland)".
Nice report.

Thanks kettlefish for the suggestion!

And here is a part of the video during the game. Sorry about the lousy sound as my GoPro is an older model and not connected to an external recorder.

Paul has the monasteries the German Monasteries (from me - signed by Doris Matthäus) and he has the monasteries from the Netherlands.
But Paul hasn't updated his profile yet.

Yes, we had a great day together with Paul. He had to wait an extra hour since we got lost, but that didn't spoil the fun we had afterwards. Which is well documented in this tread and on youtube.

It was the first time that I also meet someone from the forum, and I hope we get the chance to meet again sometime soon. Maybe Paul can come and play a game in our city next time :-)

And thanks to kettlefish for the suggestion.

Thank you all for the monasteries offer! Yes, I believe I have them already, at least one copy.

Though I would like to have at least 4 copies of each expansion, for the megaCartArt I love to do once a year or so. If a good price I'd be happy to buy from all of the offers!

Do you mean the German castles Paul? If not, I can't think of any 2-tile sized expansions. If so, I have a spare copy and you are very welcome to it...

That would be awesome, thank you! I do not have any 2-tilesized tiles, that's for sure. How many are there? 6x total in a set?

Yeah there are 6. I've played with it once or twice and really like it. I think it has the right combination of intrigue and scoring, whereas the German Monasteries are very powerful scoring-wise.

Definately. B1nder had 4 German monasteries if I remember correctly and each one of them was 24, 25, 28 and 29 or something.

What I didn't know (early in the game) is that you jump over empty tile spaces. But that should be a stopper really. So people can trap them. Even if we had played it this way, he'd still get a lot of points but not crazy high.

That we did. They spoke excellent English. No studdering at all. We clicked the very second we met. They don't look Norweigans, though. More like Belgians.

But sometimes they spoke Norweigan and then it hit me they are not Belgians.  ;D
