Sounds like a fantastic time kettlefish. I second Dan's comments, I live in the wrong country! Dan, maybe we should do something about that and big up  Carcassonne in the UK?

Kettlefish, thanks for all the great info. Can't believe there was dinner and jazz with the creator of this great game!

Thanks for doing a mass order for us here SRBO.  Do you know what monasteries are pictured in this set?

Intriguing.  I wonder what the rules would be.  Looks to be only 1 tile so maybe it'll have similar rules to La Porxada? I'd certainly be interested in getting it if anyone finds out where from!

I'd love to let him know that this is a game I will cherish for the rest of my life, it has brought many hours of enjoyment to my wife and me. If you could thank him for keeping his passion for this game going for so many years that would be great. If you get an opportunity I'd love to know why he chose now to develop the half and half tiles and what he hopes it will add to the game.

A bold move SRBO.  I like your courage and guts, let's hope it works out.  With 68 tiles left it's still anyone's guess whether this will pay off!

Too busy to take part in this but can't wait to see how this turns out. Imagine how long a mega card game would take!

Tactically I use it to gain an advantage over a shared field.  If i'm going to have to share a field with an opponent I'm going to do my best to make sure I can gain a points advantage of some sort over him.  I know that this doesn't stop my opponent also putting his pig in the same field but in my experience a lot of people forget that he exists as a piece! More fool them I say!

I'm intrigued more by what they mean by 'liquid entry'.  What are people's thoughts on how the gameplay is affected in this new edition of Carcassonne?  Could it be that they're introducing a hand of tiles as an official rule so that new players have more options when placing tiles? I can't think of other ways to change entry into the game...

Sounds like this is one of the most exciting mini expansions for a while. It's going to be an expensive October!

So the question remains: Who is going to Essen to talk to Spielbox about this?

Just had an email conversation with Barbara from Spielbox and it looks like they might be willing to start reprinting some of their older expansions if there's demand... I know I'd be grateful if they reprinted Tunnels and I'm sure Cathars and Plague are also in demand.  If someone going to Essen could bring it up with them maybe we'll get somewhere with them and maybe even get rule clarifications with a reprint to finally answer our questions! Here is a segment of our email conversation.

At the moment there is no plan, but I could discuss it during the fair (SPIEL) in Essen

Just put in a pre-order on the spielbox website.  Could be great for half filling holes in the board.  I wonder if you will be able to start setting pieces on the hypotenuse of the triangle to start sending the game tiles off on a diagonal?!  If so that would make the game even harder to complete features near the edge of the board.

However the rules come I'm looking forward to it and reckon it adds a lot of possibility for fan-based expansions.

Th rule should be: You may put a tunnel token only on a tunnel opening of a road with a follower of yourself.

That's the rule we play, we go on the logic that the ingenuity of the meeple means he digs the tunnel.

It works really well with that modification.
