Another vote from me on, ‘other creative uses’.

I wanted to simplify the rules as much as possible but still include this for theme and novelty. We have now played this variant about 6 times and it is not polished yet, (thus not complete).

When a Plague tile is added place the lowest numbered marker with the rat. Then place a flea marker on that tile on all orthogonal tiles. This can stretch out a long ways in each direction. This is the only time that the plague spreads for that particular tile. A Meeple can still be placed as usual.

When a feature completes subtract one point for each flea that is present on the tiles. Those fleas are now removed back to the pool. (They can reactivate when another Plague tile is placed.) This applies to all features but we make an exception for farms because it is a little challenging to keep track of.

As mentioned, this is still clunky and needs some work. In practicality it ends up playing like a Siege feature which my wife doesn’t really like because it takes away points but in our mega games they are hardly missed.

There will be abandoned fleas around the board at some point. When this happens we just return them to the pool for later use as more plague tiles are placed.

I am resolute to keep working on this one, I don’t mind the chaos.

If it Included the Scout that would make it tempting but with 2 copies already of H&G, I will probably pass.

Apologies for the late response. I was the lone vote for, 'use them in some other creatively strategic manner'.

I’m sure, for the purists, our version of Carcassonne would drive them over the parapet! We have a some custom and modified rules for a few tile sets, (but not all). The Bazaar is one of them.

Just to preface and as mentioned before my primary Carc partner is my wife. Before I picked up the 10th anniversary tiles from Cundco we would use the Bazaar tiles with that rule set, (return a Meeple from play if desired).

I thought something you might see happen at a Bazaar is a table of old gents playing their light games of chance, usually with playing cards. I certainly know my uncle, who lives in small town old Italy, spends most of his afternoons with this innocuous activity as they watch Calcio, (Italian football).

OK, finally here it is, when the Bazaar feature is drawn the player has the option to play a game of chance (in place of taking a feature). If you choose this option you can bid up to as many points as you wish (this number is very arbitrary and can have a limit of whatever is agreed upon in advance).

The game is played with the Flyer die, bid up to the point level you wish (say 5 points) and choose a die number between 1 & 3 as shown on the die face. If you number comes up you get double those points you bid, (so in this example 10 points). If your number doesn’t come up you lose the bid points off the score track.

We always include these tiles and I am usually the only one to take the odd chance.

That is our wacky way :)

I've been traveling on business and just saw this thread now. Earlier today I saw and was surprised by the CC Facebook post.

I'm also a sucker and will very likely buy this. I backed Galaxy of Trian just for the space theme and for the similarity to Carc.

I do wish or hope that they would call it something else like, Cassini, even if it were the obvious Carc mechanics.

Doh, Cassini wouldn't work in the Star Wars world would it :P

I would go with the single C tile. We call it, the end piece. It seems to be the most versatile; to end off cities and for sneaking into other domains!

I also agree, as above, my first initial thought was the tile that I need at the time :)

Another vote for T&B. I like that you have tangible resources to show for the hard fought city battles, then the race that ensues as you work for the majority. With that in mind I am also a big fan of the Gold Mines as well.

Its Mega-Carcassonne for us. We use 1 base game and about 90% of the printed expansions with a few variants from here and several mods of our own. We use about 300 tiles and and it takes us about 3-4 hours. It is more of a weekend activity but we still get almost 100 games in a year.

If we want a shorter game we play on the iOS app with just a few expansions. We also get the odd game in of some of the other stand alone versions, new and old. But by far, for us, Mega-Carcassonne is the way we like to play. We use just the base game to teach noobs but I have little to no interest to play the base game on its own.
