Thanks JB, it's great to see your name here again!

Hope the last few years have been kind to you and JG?

As kind as possible given the madness!

Huge congrats to Dan, Tom and Hector! With such upstanding and dedicated gentlemen in charge, that can only be a good thing! And now Dan won't have to write entire blog posts about how much a one-day forum outage impacted his life; he'll just have to curse repeatedly until he fixes it himself!

Well, I also became a C1-C2-C3 Carcassonne completionist due to the worst influences there, but I don't have plans for a museum or the time being. ;)

OMG, C3? The arrival of C2 was the beginning of the end for me with Carcassonne because I disliked it so much and just couldn't move past it for whatever reason. But having had a quick look around C3 looks pretty similar to C2?

Thanks Decar, I completely forgot it was on BGA - I should probably play it sometime before buying a Big Box!

Hello old friends!

Just popped in because I got notification of the Alhambra Big Box 2nd Edition KS. A few years ago I was waiting for this - a better artwork version of the game in a big box with a bunch of expansions. But since I haven't bought games for a couple of years now and because we all know about Queen's reputation, I'm unlikely to back it - although I could be convinced! Anyway, thoughts from any fans of the game?

There are two instances where the rules say city when they should say road.

Looking forward to the next time!

Should we try for this Sunday night at about the same time (8:30pm UK/Portugal)?

Great game with danisthirty and Decar last night with I&C, T&B and the phantom.

Final scores:
 :green-meeple: 187
 :black1-meeple: 153
 :blue-meeple: 150

During the first half of the game, we gradually accumulated points with Dan and Decar in the lead after sharing a decent city while everyone got a feel for the game. There were a few big early moves:
- Dan trapped my big meeple and builder in a city, but I luckily drew the one CFRF tile to complete the city about halfway through the game.
- I trapped Decar's builder in another city which he couldn't recover.
- Dan played his big meeple on a farm pretty early on, with 77 tiles still remaining. I eventually did the same.

By about the halfway stage, the main narrative of the game was set, with Decar consistently in the lead by 15-20 points but Dan and I battling for the biggest farm, setting the stage for a close finish. I managed to tie the main farm with fewer than 10 tiles left (bottom left corner of the board) and that pretty much clinched the game for me as I already had a small lead over Dan and also had two eight-point cloisters on the board and outright ownership of two of the trade goods, all of which allowed me to overtake Decar too. I was a bit surprised at the final score because it felt like a much closer game throughout.

Thanks for the game, let's do it again soon!

Reviews & Session Reports / Old enemies renew their fierce rivalry
« on: March 21, 2020, 04:47:55 AM »
Last night danisthirty and jungleboy renewed their ancient rivalry in an epic game that would have been played in front of a full house at JCloisterZone Arena if not for the international ban on mass gatherings.

The game was base + Besiegers + Mage & Witch + phantom. It was close all the way and in the end, I secured a 152-149 victory with the last tile of the game, a FFFR cloister which allowed me to tie up the main farm.

IIRC, we also played another game before this one but I don't remember who won. I'll just assume it was me!
