General / Re: How do you shuffle your tiles?

Thank you all for your answers!!  :(y)

I also discovered that there have been similar threads in the past.  :)

A lot of ideas to get inspired from... I think we will go with the 20 stacks... :)

What I learned from last year’s Quizz is that some situations require us taking decisions and name them…

General / How do you shuffle your tiles?
« on: December 04, 2022, 01:23:03 AM »
This dialogue from the " I love the postman" thread had me thinking...

My big existential question of the moment related to carcassonne is to know if I invest in sleeves to protect my tiles.  ???

If you use a bag to draw the tiles is a must...

It really is. I was playing a copy of Hunters and gathers 2nd edition out of a bag and you could tell a few pieces has already taken a beating

We do not use a bag but the tower for the tiles. But we need to shuffle them and I can clearly see that they get rubbed from that!

We put them face down on the table and shuffle and I think, clearly, that is not a good idea....

My BB5 tiles got a little damaged so I just had to buy a new BB5 box (for a good price ;) ) but would like to avoid that in the future.
Also, I don't want to use sleeves.

Any ideas how to shuffle without damaging the tiles?

These are tricky! I have not played with any of these expansions before.

And this is only the beginning....  8)  ... I think I don't want to know what is waiting for us ... :o

- The Grinch: Stop whining! Here you are two extra questions worth 1 point each...  ???

In this same scenario...

Question 2b: Which meeple gets a ghost?

Question 2c: Does it affect the scoring? Why?

Meepledrone, Meepledrone, wicked, wicked!!!  :o

Official Rules / Re: Question about bets and Exp. 8 castles
« on: December 02, 2022, 11:12:13 AM »
I can be wicked, too, Meepledrone, so let's examine the following scenario:  >:D

In the Bets expansion, there are two tiles with only one road which ends on the tile, so theoretically, when you place the tile, the road could be finished and the bet is only for the city.

One of the two tiles is eligible for (small) castles. So in case both cities are transformed into castles, the bet is unfinished.

What happens? I believe in that case the players have to take their bet tokens back....?

Really rough start, indeed!

I had never played Mists as Expansion 11, so I had to read all the rules before I could even think of answering ....  8)

You want to shake us awake from the beginning, Meepledrone, admit it!!  C:-)

Well, here we go again  ;D and right away with the first question forcing most to carefully read the rules of the new expansion.

Agreed! @Meepledrone gives us a rough start   >:D! I had to correct my first answer right away.... and I had just played the Bets a couple of days earlier...  :-\

It was nice to see though that I was not the only one ...  :P

Somewhere in Carcassonne...

Oh no, the ghosts   :o..... may the spirits of the Almighty Saint Carcassonne be with us....

it's happening again  :D :D :D :D

Thank you @Meepledrone for taking the time to prepare this even if you don't have time! That's very kind of you and is definitely worth a merit!

Looking forward to my head explosing ...  :o

Here more ideas for variants:

3.3 / 4.3 (one or two players only)
you are NOT allowed to pick any color in your turn. A color sequence (defined at the beginning of the game) has to be observed - as if you were in fact 4 players

6.1 (one or two players only) - this should be easier than 6, but I am not sure if you can win 6 with it
you have 4 meeples per color (and not only 3)

Cundco updated the Tile List again. The tile distribution for Mists over Carcassonne is the correct one now.

thanks for the heads up and for telling them what needed to be changed  :(y)
