The Marketplace / WTB: Star Wars expansion 1
« on: August 22, 2021, 02:49:39 AM »
I know it's not the most loved version of Carcassonne so I'm hoping someone has a copy for sale. My son loves star wars and Carcassonne and I'm hoping to get him the base game and expansion for Christmas. I've found the base game but struggling to find a copy of the expansion. If anyone has a copy for sale it'd be much appreciated.

The Marketplace / South Sea's spare parts
« on: January 22, 2016, 02:35:57 PM »
I recently bought a used copy of South Seas stating to be complete but unfortunately when I opened the box it was missing a few of the fishing boat tokens and a large and small wooden fish. I know these parts are really available from cundco but thought I'd ask here of anyone might have the spare pieces they'd donate.

If not, no worries! Thanks!

General / General Plea

Hello everyone,

Some of you may have seen me post before searching for a copy of the Purple & Black Teacher Meeples from The School expansion.  Although it has been viewed many times I am yet to find any resource to help me on my quest so I thought I'd share my motivation for this quest in the hope that someone might be able to assist me.

My wife has been working as a teacher at the same school for her entire career and is known there to be a big Carcassonne fan.  This summer she is leaving that school as we move for my job.  As a tribute to her time there I was hoping to get her a copy of The School expansion in her school colours and ask the staff there to sign the tiles so that she'd always have a nice memento of her time there which she could be reminded of when we play Carcassonne.  Here's the kicker - her school colours are black & purple...

I would be eternally grateful if anyone could help and if anyone who can speak German might post this on to see if they can help too.  I understand that this is a big ask but this community has been so supportive before so I thought I would ask.  I am happy to reimburse any costs and will donate a copy of 'The Tunnel' expansion to the community as a prize for the next tournament.

Thank you for listening and seasons greetings!  :green-meeple: :red-meeple:

The Marketplace / WTT/WTB Purple & Black Teacher from Die Schule
« on: November 10, 2015, 03:58:36 AM »
I've been looking for a while for these two. Hoping to complete the teacher set. Also did they do people and black bags as well?

I will pay but also have a copy of the tunnel to trade for the two teachers if that is more preferable.

Let me know if anyone knows of a way to locate these teachers or has them spare.

News and Events / Latest thing from Basically Wooden

Found these beauties on eBay last night.

I have always liked the 3D element you get from the bridges and towers - well now there's the opportunity to do the same with the castles.  Personally, I think they look fantastic.

News and Events / New: Carcassonne: Hunters & Gatherers
« on: April 14, 2015, 08:46:33 AM »
Z-Man Games has officially released their version of Hunters & Gatherers. Tile graphics are the same, same number of tiles and bonus tiles same number of followers, huts, and tokens. Having had a cursory look through the rules they seem identical too, just an update in the graphics...

There is one discrepancy. Regarding forest scoring it says you score 2 points per tile but then in the example they score per forest segment. As they seem to be following the old hunters and gatherers rules my inclination would be this is a typo and they actually mean segment.

Conclusion: Same game in a different box!

Official Rules / The Barn and the Halflings
« on: March 13, 2015, 06:54:31 AM »
Is there a clarification about Barn placement using to Halfling tiles? If they count as a whole tile I don't see a problem as long as there's no feature touching that edge e.g the ccc halfling tile.

Unofficial Rules / Unofficial simplified CAR
« on: February 17, 2015, 03:03:38 AM »
I know that there has been a lot of chat about a reordering of the CAR into a simplified layout and needing official authority from HiG. What I have done is reorder the official CAR and combine footnotes into the main body of the text to make the rules easier to follow. I have kept the official told layouts and added some more to clarify situations - especially on regards to the plague expansion!

I have posted the link here in the unofficial rules section as there is no authorisation from HiG or ZMG.

If this is against any rules then remove the post.

Official Rules / The Robber, The Tower, and Bazaars
« on: February 07, 2015, 10:51:44 AM »
In the rules for The Robbers in the CAR it states:
When a counting figure of another player moves forward, if a robber stood on the space where that follower started, the owner of the robber gets half of the points (rounded up).
Yet, when we look at the Order of Play section of the CAR even though are sections for paying a ransom, and performing an auction there is no indication that this affects the robbers.  Could someone clarify if the robber moves when a player scores points from being paid a ransom or being paid for a tile in an auction please.

This also raises the question of whether a robber moves backwards with a follower if points are lost so the robber is not stranded or even the possibility that the robber scores negative points when points are lost...

Thank you,

Official Rules / Castles and the wagon
« on: January 14, 2015, 12:00:20 AM »

I was reading over the new edition of the CAR and found something that I didn't quite understand.

On page 119 of the CAR it states:

"A player can use the wagon effect to build a castle..."

Here's my query  - What does this mean?  I can only see 3 options:

1) Does it mean that if a CFRF semi-circle city tile is used to create an unoccupied 2-tile city and completes a road with a wagon on it the wagon can occupy the completed city (breaking the rules for the wagon only occupying incomplete features) so long as a castle is created (as a castle would be an unoccupied feature)
2) Same as above only with an occupied city.  The occupied city is scored first then the wagon moves in.
3)Simply that a wagon can occupy a castle - if so then why have the word effect in the sentence?

Of course I might have got this entirely wrong.  Any clarifications would be very welcome!

The Marketplace / WTT: Der Tunnel for Corn Circles 1
« on: October 09, 2014, 10:02:51 AM »
After searching for ages to find a copy of Der Tunnel I happen across two at the same time! Ridiculous.  As such I now have a spare copy to trade!  As Die Belagerer is about to become available on I would ideally like to trade it for Corn Circles 1 as that's one of the final pieces I need!

Let me know.

Many thanks,

General / Finally got my hands on the Cathars!
« on: September 05, 2014, 10:10:56 AM »
Hurrah!  I have finally got my hands on a copy of the cathars.  I found a seller who was offering it for a cheap (ish) price, well at least cheaper than anything I've seen online!  I've always found the artwork very impressive and it doesn't disappoint.

Can't wait to test out the effect it has on gameplay; as someone who gets beaten by people building large cities I can't wait to bring them down a peg or two!

Now to update my profile!

The Marketplace / Anyone going to Germany soon?
« on: August 28, 2014, 05:26:58 AM »

I am looking for cheap ways to expand my collection and came across this:

Unfortunately they don't ship to the UK, only to their stores.  I was wondering if there was someone in Germany/Switzerland who I could transfer the money (inc shipping) to buy this for me?

I know it's a long shot but everyone here is so friendly i thought I'd give it a shot!

I am a UK based Carcassonne fan and looking for a copy of 'The Tunnel'.  Please PM me if you are willing to sell a copy or know of somewhere to buy one.  Edit: I have found a copy, thank you for your help.

Many thanks,
