Title: WANTED: Opponents
Post by: jazbang on June 07, 2015, 01:22:21 AM
Hello

My name's James, and I recently won the UK Carcassonne Championship.  Full details of my not-at-all-lucky win can be found on this thread (http://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=1650.msg24095#msg24095).

The upshot of all this nonsense is that I'll be off to Essen in October to represent the UK, and I desperately want to not come last.

With this in mind, I'm looking for opponents to play one-on-one base game Carcassonne (like they do in the Worlds), who can beat me and then tell me where I've gone wrong. The thinking being that this will force me to improve, and you'll get to tell everyone that you beat the UK Champion, so really you should have the trophy after all.

I'm Birmingham based, but often travel around the country with work.  I'm also on the iPhone app under username 'jamesecook'.

Thanks
James

PS Also, where can I get Union Jack meeples?

I'm definitely not the person to give you sophisticated lessons, there are way better players around here, although I would love to play you never the less. But I would definitely recommend you to get JCZ (http://jcloisterzone.com/en/) as well, because it increase the options to get an online game running.

There is also running a ladder, currently in beta status, but working fine, dedicated exclusively to 2P base games. Check
this thread (http://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=1671.0) and contact Decar, if you are interested to sign in.

Nice thinking. It's probably best to let him get a few warm-up games in against some soft opponents first...  >:D

Hi James, have you seen the thread about our UK meetup? It's in Rugby on the 31st October which isn't so far away for you if you're still based in Birmingham.

Full details can be found here: http://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=1902

It would be good to meet up again and play the final that never was! >:D

Hi

Thanks for the heads-up, depending on my schedule I'll try and make it along to Rugby.

Sorry for not replying sooner, I've been away - but I'm back now until Essen, so I've got to get my practice in!
