Anything Else / I love the local store...
« on: September 03, 2015, 12:36:06 PM »
A spin off to I love the postman... thread.   :yellow-meeple:

Today I got hold of Zpocalypse expansion set from a local store for just 1 Euro. Never heard of nor played this game, but the price made it impossible for me not to buy it. And there was only one copy left.

Reviews & Session Reports / Paul vs Hounk general game 2015-09-02
« on: September 02, 2015, 03:08:36 PM »
Hounk and I thought we kill some time doing a friendly non-cup game using Inns'n'Cathedrals and King Robber Baron.

My luck with the tiles was quite handsome but Hounk got away with a fat city all to himself.

« on: August 30, 2015, 01:51:14 AM »
I, living in Sweden, is interested in obtaining the Advent Calendar 2015 by Frosted Games. When it is available, can someone help me with this?

Note: I've not contacted them yet to ask if they ship outside mentioned countries on their site. I'll update this info when I get a replik.

Thanks in advance!

Game played with the base tiles and the Inns and Cathedrals.

It was a battle of the farm almost from the start. While Hounk and Rich where scoring from various cities I scored some roads.

Then, thanks to Hounk miscounting the farmers, he placed his very last tile so the entire board became one big farm with me in majority!  :-*

General / W/E Box is Missing the Gingerbread Man
« on: August 05, 2015, 10:14:07 AM »
So I went to pickup Z-man edition of Winter Edition but there was no Gingerbread wooden fig in it so I cancelled the order. Did I do the right thing? It has 84 tiles though.

Which version or versions is recommended for all tiles and wood competition?

Other Games / Cacao board game with similarities to Carcassonne
« on: July 03, 2015, 02:45:36 PM »
This week's Carcassonne surfing brought me this interesting new (2015 release) board game.

It's a tile laying game much like Carcassonne but, as the game title suggest, it relates to cacao beans. It seems to have similarities to our beloved game in terms of fields, cities(villages) etc according to the article linked below. It mentioned of tile size similarity to Carc tiles, but not exact size match confirmation.

General / Carcassonne v2 with Gold bags
« on: June 16, 2015, 11:40:01 PM »
Daily dose of Carcassonne googling I found this. v2 version which includes golden bags, in case anyone missed it. Also included is River I.

Store

Seems the bags are meant for the wooden figurines more than the tiles themselves.

Other Games / Different Carcassonne app-roach: 2-in-1 in Playstore
« on: June 07, 2015, 02:35:46 PM »
Damn Little Town is an app you can download for free from Playstore.

It shares the similarity of placing a random tile drawn and placing a follower. But once all the tiles has been laid, you then take turns to help your followers escape by moving them to the corners of the board, while laying what appears to be demon tiles to block your opponent.

Anything Else / Spoof - Most complicated board game ever.

Hi everyone!

So today I finally got to meet someone from the forum face to face and it was great fun.

After an early dinner at a pub we went to a café that have board games on a shelf you can borrow and play with. Of course, B1nder had his own custom case with him with all the Carcassonne fun ever needed. I got a chance to see up close Half'n'Half and the 2-tilesized monasteries which I now realise that I am missing out on a lot of fun with these two minis.

We played a game using the base game, Traders'n'Builders, Inns'n'Cathedrals, 2xHalf'n'Halv tiles each and one of the 2-tilesided monastery each. Oh, and we also used the German monasteries (I think), the ones points up and down on X and Y axel.

Although I had accumulated what seemed to be a 100 point lead, the game ended with B1nder winning over me by ONE point, 193-192. Darn those monasteries! :D

Update: Forgot to mentioned we filmed the entire game as well.  :D

General / Giochi on line: Carcassonne
« on: May 20, 2015, 12:56:08 PM »
Well, this wasn't what I was looking for when surfing, but found it nontheless. An odd version of the game. For example, I got 60 points for completing a 7-tile road.  :o

It may take a while to load the Flash game (took me 2 mins). Bottomleft in the game you can turn off music and sound. Rest is pretty much straightforward.

Oh, and it's in Italian, but I know some of you already know of Giochi.  ;)

Most importantly, why to look at it, is that I like the 3D view of the tiles and how you rotate and place the meeples.

Other Games / Architekton - Carcassonne lookalike
« on: April 30, 2015, 03:33:18 PM »
As I was hunting and gathering, I found this interesting game:

https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/16499/architekton

Haven't looked into it much but it does mention it's a similar Carcassonne tile laying game.

And the biggest question I think many of you will ask, as I already asked myself: Will these tiles match Carcassonne's.  :)

With the launch of Windows 10 they've introduced these virtual glasses.

Take a look at the 1 minute mark to find out what this could mean for Carcassonne + JCZ + League:
