Jere, is there any chance that you could include the results from the 'Alternative World Cup' in your rankings too, as these were 'real games' played in a 'real competition'?
Thanks.
Yes absolutely! I thought about asking if you wanted that some time ago but then I forgot. Sorry. I'll try my best to add them today, otherwise next week I promise.

Congrats MrNumbers for winning the most anticlimax World Cup! (don't get me wrong, still an impressive achievement!). Commiserations Dan! Elo ratings are published here

Anyone up for a game this evening (JCZ)? All player counts and expansions considered!
I think I could make it, what time?

Hi Pleebus,
Which platform do you use? I rarely play online games against random opponents on iOS (iPhone/iPad) but I had some free time 2 days ago and played a few games in a row... my first opponent had a Elo of 1580 and I won easily, second game was against a player with Elo of 1600+, third vs 1700 something and I kept winning... I had to interrupt the 4th game vs an opponent 1800+ because my family came back home and my son was crying... but the game was really tight... I lost by forfeiting the game, but you see the pattern: the quality of my opponents got better and better, thus increasing my chances of losing... I don't think it has something to do with the randomness of the tiles. Though it seems that there is an algorithm that tries to select an opponent that would be challenging for you. It also works like that in tournaments: you win the first game, then you will play against someone that also won his/her first game and so on, like a pyramid until you read the top and you are declared the winner.

I've produced a patch which I think you can use to finish the game. Logistically, it's a bit like finding out some extra tiles were in the bag and removing them before continuing and making sure it doesn't happen again.
The modifications to JCZ were trivial:
First: On turn 76 discard the duplicate tiles, then draw a new random tile.
Second: On turns < 76 if a Bazaar is drawn, keep doing what the code used to do. For future turns: Draw the tile from the game state's tilepack, which ensures both tiles are removed.
Screenshots attached.
I've quickly run through and can now see two tiles being removed from the game state. Could do with some more testing, but seems solid.
Let me know how you want to proceed.
While you’re hacking the saved game could you add a function to replace both player names with string “Jéré”... yes, both, just to be sure... emoji code4]

Game for bronze medal: Jéré 303 - 260 zone2Quite balanced game. Fierce fight for the main field (zone2 controlled it but managed to steal it). Got all points for trade goods but I don't think it was based on luck as I had to close a city worth 20-pts (to zone2) to avoid zone2 getting both points for city and the goods. Highest bid was 15 for a tile I needed to connect the fields.

Congrats MrNumbers! The game can be summarized this way: I think the luck was on my side but I played so terribly that it compensated... I made way too many mistakes, like placing a meeple right next to a tower (2 times)... Am I blind?? Another stupid mistake was forgetting that monasteries from base game were replaced by the german monasteries... Plus I think MrNumbers is a far superior player with the Tower expansion and played very well, so well and me so bad that in the end I would have been ashamed to win... It's a well deserved victory.

Cool! I see it's starting on monday, so we'll have to be ready for it! The kids of Carcassonne is the only spin off i don't own yet, as i only want it for completionism purposes, and could never find it for cheap. But this changes it I think i'm gonna give majesty a go (i saw it at the Geek convention last month), and some mini's
I saw it at 11 EUR last Sunday at Bart Smit. Also available online I think: www.bartsmit.com/nl/bsnl/carcassonne-junior

I played yesterday with my 4 years old and it was successful. He absolutely adored some of the graphics on the tiles: shadow of the flying dragon, loch ness monster in the water, little wagons on rails outside the mine, etc! I had to argue a bit with him about creating a 5x5 square but he managed in the end.
