Carcassonne South Seas Versions
« on: April 07, 2022, 05:27:29 AM »
Hey everyone, Just wondering has there been any different versions or re-releases of Carcassonne South Seas? I've recently got the Friday expansion for it, but the artwork doesn't seem to quite match. Can't seem to find anything about a re-release. But maybe someone else knows something I don't know?

Can you post a picture showing the mismatch?

There was only one edition as far as I know.

There's not been any separate editions, other than those from different publishers as far as I'm aware.

I'll join Meepledrone in asking if you could share a picture of the game and the expansion? That might help to see the mismatch

Hi chris6507, my Friday tiles have a turquoise coloured sea compared to the blue of the base game tiles. The Friday tiles make a separate island and don't touch the normal tiles so don't have to match exactly although I guess there is no reason why you couldn't build it adjacent to part of the main board. If it helps, I have the Sudsee version.

Sounds Like unclewill has the same thing. Maybe they just didn't care because it's a different island. I'll admit I haven't played it yet as it's only new. Just found the different colours to be a bit jarring and surprised me. I know there's been differences throughout expansions. this one just seemed a bit more obvious and thought maybe there had been a different release. Not the end of the world. Was just wondering if there was a reason for the colour mismatch that anyone knew of.

Updated img tag:

As Unclewill mentioned, at least the expansion tiles don't directly interact with the existing tiles   :P
I'll have a look tomorrow in mine to see if I've got the same differences
