Entertainment for this evening sorted...
« on: February 25, 2022, 07:24:45 AM »
My copy of South Seas arrived in the post today and becomes my fourth version of Carcassonne in my collection. No better way than to welcome it to my Carc shelf than playing all four of them tonight is there...?

(Pictures attached in two ways as Im still unsure about sharing pictures on here lol)

What's the different between a Thief, a Fisherman and a Hiker?
Different editions of Carcassonne that's what...

That's a good evening sorted then!
Enjoy playing them all!

Any thoughts on what order you'll play them?

Thanks! I'm sure I will enjoy the evening well!

Well I'll be playing all for them 1v1 so it really depends what my opponent (I mean freind) want's but I'm going to advocate for order of publication, so Carcassonne followed by H&G, then South Seas and ending with Over Hill and Dale...

I really like Over Hill and Dale because it nicely balanced the roads with the hiking mechanic  :yellow-meeple:

Yeah, I've only played it a dozen or so times but the hiking mechanic has been hugely enjoyable (though Im primarly comparing that to my 1000+ plays of H&G rather than my 2 of base Carcassonne).

Can really balloon your score, in a 1v1 both me an my oponent got onto the same road early, and all bar 1 non-ending road tiles got placed on it over the game and used to hike becuase neither of us wanted to shut it down! I ended up with a score of 269 and I think about half of that must have come fron that one 20+ tile long road and associated hikes!  ;D
