Hello everyone! Just dropped in to say hello as I have repaired the disk space issue, some people were having trouble uploading. Turns out a malevolent self-aware evil backup process decided to back up its own backups, causing a recurring loop of ever-growing backups. Or maybe I just screwed up

Hi Gantry,

I think we have some disk space issues again. I'm trying to upload the Dragon Killers and and Dragon Hunters fan expansions to the Download area.

I started with Dragon Killers first. When I try to submit the form of the Download area, I get the same error all the time:

An Error Has Occurred!
You need to enter a download title.
---

Please find attached a snapshot of the form I'm trying to submit. I tried to upload different file sizes from 20.5MB down to 8.7MB (my latest test) to no avail.

Disk space is not the issue here fortunately, we are using less than half of our allotted space. I'll check it out and get back to you, thanks for letting me know.

Hi gantry,

Although the problem persists when trying to upload the Dragon Killers fan expansion (8.7 MB ZIP file), I could successfully upload the Bandit Camp fan expansion (3.84 MB ZIP file.)

Don't know if this could shed some light on the issue.

Isn't it just that there's a size limit? I've always worked on the assumption there was, hence the lower resolution files for some of my expansions under Downloads.

The size cap is supposed to be 25 MB, and gantry confirmed there is no disk space issues.

So, for the time being, we have a poltergeist in our hands.

I did some upload tests with dummy files with various sizes. Everything below 7MB was okay but everything above 8MB got the same error I reported:

An Error Has Occurred!
You need to enter a download title.
---

Then I tried a 7,900K file and I got an error with a different message:

An Error Has Occurred!
Download exceeds max filesize. Max Filesize is 7.63MB
---

Doing some finer grain test, this file size cap turns out to be 8,000,000 bytes. Does this size cap ring any bells? It looks like the upload file size cap was reset somehow.

If you need to replicate my test, I used mkfile to create some dummy files on my Mac. Here you are the details for the two file sizes that help detect the file size limit:

* File size: 7,997,440 bytes --> Test OK
- File generated: Test_7.81MB.zip
- Command line: mkfile -n 7810k Test_7.81MB.zip

* File size: 8,007,680 bytes --> Test Error
- File generated: Test_7.82MB.zip
- Command line: mkfile -n 7820k Test_7.82MB.zip
- Error reported:
---
An Error Has Occurred!
Download exceeds max filesize. Max Filesize is 7.63MB
---

Excellent bit of digging! It's odd though - nothing's changed on the back end to have changed this. I'll double check everything again.

Hi gantry!

If the issue is not in the Forum Software configuration, it may be in any piece dealing with the upload the hosting service has reset or reconfigured to limit the file size cap for uploads. The number is too rounded not to be related with a config setting IMHO.

Hi again gantry,

There is another issue related to uploaded images we've been experiencing for the last two days or so. Images are displayed in full size instead of as a thumbnail you can click. Check the following posts:

In my case I've tried to remove the image and upload it several times to no avail. The actual size version is displayed all the time.

Looks as though automatic thumbnail creation is working again ... has someone fixed it, or maybe from the last upgrade?

Not sure, I reported it to Gantry some time ago. I think he fixed it.

He also increased the filesize limit to 64MB in the Download Area, which I had requested too a while ago.
