:meeple: It seems that sometimes the toughest part of a game can be to get other people to play. In World of Warcraft of late there seems to be a boss you need 120 players(!) to be able to kill it. Haven't confirmed it, though, as I quit playing a while back.

Been having a drought here as well. This weekend was planned for a Mega Carcassonne game but it ended up going shopping at the mall yesterday and today it was a movie.

What I do sometimes is to play alone when I get an itch. I already know how my cousin and my sister play and try to mimic their playstyle. Trust me, I've lost quite a few times playing alone! You can also make up other personalities, sort of your very own A.I. It sounds more sad than actually is but I find it fun!

General / Carcassonne Sliding Puzzle 5x5 Grid Fun!
« on: August 20, 2013, 02:35:39 PM »
Hello everyone! :meeple:

So, earlier this evening I got this idea of a sliding puzzle using Carcassonne tiles. Surprisingly, with a few tweaks you too can actually play this!

What I did:
1. Created a .jpg file with a finished 5x5 grid using the basic tiles that comes with the game.
2. Upload it to my server (picture below). http://sydby.com/carcassonne/screenshots/CarcassonneSlidingPuzzle25.jpg
3. Unfortunately, as far as I know it needs Google Chrome installed with the addon 'Puzzle for Chrome' which is free and one-click installed. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/puzzle-for-chrome/mbalnpbcmecdckpghgacibglihkgamkl?hl=en
4. Went to my picture using Chrome browser and simply right-click on it selecting the addon 'Puzzle for Chrome' and the next second I was already playing it!

YouTube clip to a recorded game test I did:

The picture I created:

Credits goes to 'unintended' user, real name Daniel Perez Alvarez for this great addon for Google!

 ^-^

I should invest in the Winter Edition. Somehow it looks more beautiful than the regular green grass version. Rather cozy, just like Christmas!  ;D

And of course, a great video you uploaded. Hopefully it spurs me to do one some day as well!

 :o

How about a MAD version? The one with the least score wins. When placing a city tile one has to put a meeple on it and finish the city fast or end up opponents building more of it. Farm scoring is substracted.

I've been trying to introduce a crazy weekend game theme just to vary things a bit.

Going back to this topic though, boardgames are like any other fun and hobby. It's not for everyone. It's a bit unfortunate you can't enjoy the game with those you'd love to play with but I'm sure you can find others. I was thinking of playing via E-mail but haven't figured out the shuffle of tiles so they are synced.

This got me thinking about a new scoring system. Doubt it will ever work but who knows.  :meeple:

The key is to work together, i.e. when working on a city with others is about everyone scoring together and not winning the city. The more score you get, it becomes negative.

In short: A three player mode the one with the highest scoring and the one with the lowest has to try match the one in the middle for that player will win after all the scoring is done at the end! >:D

Hello!

Thought I post a link to a very interesting take on Carcassonne tiles made with LEGO.

http://www.iamcal.com/lego-carcassonne/

If ever enough general LEGO parts obtained, I may try to at least make ONE tile myself just for fun.  :meeple:

Love sheets!

I remember doing them for the old RPG games like MERP and I'd print them out.

Using PHP should go fairly easy even with what little I still remember. In fact, using fillout form encased the basic html code should suffice. Laugh. I remember I did an entire website using Microsoft Excel whereas you surf inside Excel instead of a web browser.

It will be interesting to see how it develops!

Laugh!

This is a great thread you started, especially considering I have an original song I keep hearing this game title during the refrain.

Artist: Enrique Iglesias
Song: Bailamos

"Carcassonne.... I love to play the game Carcassonne... With my friends, on the weekends or if I'm alone..." <-- Is how I hear it when I listen to the song!  :meeple:

Some of the replies do hint a point.  O:-)

People are just different and the involute that we are, it's a matter of accepting this. It was never about the game(s).

It's important to remember what you can do, more than what someone else does. Online gaming brings about every aspect of personalities and I've learned to accept them.

As for spewing out arguments during that game, I wouldn't worry too much. In the end it will fade away and I bet you already felt better after posting this topic, because venting is a great healer and many of us (I'm sure, even though I myself am new here) are happy to help!
