General / Is the Carcassonne-Forum.de website having trouble?
« on: February 28, 2018, 03:22:18 PM »
Right now I can access the website and the forums.  Some forums require you to log in.  As soon as I log in it sends me only blank pages.

Are they having trouble? Does anyone know?

The Marketplace / from HongKong on eBay? (free shipping) [Buyer Beware]
« on: January 26, 2018, 05:42:26 PM »
Has anybody bought the old-art edition currently for sale on eBay?  Free shipping from several sellers in HongKong and China, all using the same photos in their ads.

https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Carcassonne-An-English-Board-Game-2-5-Players-Card-Game-For-Party-Family-Friends/222706002247?hash=item33da4fe947:g:VbIAAOSwWZpZ~ZZc

Definitely on the cheap side, so I would expect these might be lower quality.  I'm just looking for tiles I can use for custom expansions, so I can deal with poorer quality of score board, box, etc.  I just need the tile backs to be somewhat indistinguishable from those I already have.

Last time I bought an item with free shipping from Asia it didn't show up.  They offered to send a replacement.  The replacement also didn't show up.  By this time it was too late to complain to eBay or PayPal so I lost my 7 bucks.  Still, I was bothered.  So this is why I ask.

Official Rules / Shepherd's field gets completed by another player
« on: October 16, 2016, 12:41:40 PM »
On Reddit the following photo was posted: http://imgur.com/90ty52N

It seems the field containing the grey shepherd was fully enclosed by a different player. No more tiles can extend that field.  Of course if the pasture was enclosed by the grey player they would retrieve their shepherd and score for their sheep.

But what happens to the grey shepherd when someone else encloses that pasture?  Is it stuck there until the end of the game? Does it return to the grey player scoring no points? Does it return to the grey player scoring points for the sheep?

The Marketplace / Ebay Auction: Count, Cult King
« on: December 20, 2015, 01:42:57 PM »
Looks like someone (not me) got hold of 15 boxes of Count, Cult and King and are auctioning everything without boxes  :-\  I have no idea who would want to do this but I figured someone might want to jump in and take a look:

Official Rules / Hills and Sheep tile design question
« on: December 03, 2015, 05:33:30 PM »
I'm not certain if "official rules" is the best place to ask this question, but here goes:

in the Hills and Sheep expansion, there are new tiles that feature city on three sides and field on one side.  The explanation in the rules states: "If these two particular tiles are placed next to each other as shown, all four formerly separate city segments are then connected into 1 city. (These tiles are intentionally created asymmetrically.)"

Question: why on earth were these tiles designed with the field reaching all the way to the opposite side of the tile?  It doesn't seem to accomplish anything, design-wise.  They could have achieved the same effect with city on three sides and the field not reaching the far side, since it seems impossible for the top city portion and the bottom city portion to ever exist as separate cities.  (Separate enclosed cities, anyway)

Is there a way to place tiles such that these two separate city segments actually stay separate cities?

(you see, not so much a rules question per se)
