Author Topic: Carcassonne Winter Edition Has Different Tile Distribution! (Read 1782 times)

I suppose most folks on the forum know this, but I didn’t know until I played at game club this evening.

I don’t really love the winter theme, but the game itself is fantastic! It has 84 tiles, with an interesting mix of edge combinations, including CFFR, CRFF, CCRF, CCFR, CFRF, as well as CCCF, CCCR, and CCCC tiles with 2 or 3 distinct cities! It seems that only CRCF and CRCR are not included? The gingerbread man is like a generous combination of the Mage and Cathedral, which I didn’t love, but didn’t dislike either. The only thing missing for me is some version of Inns, but that is easy to fix with something like guesthouses.

Anyway, just wanted to say I love this particular size of game and combination of tile edge configurations. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to but just one version of the game!

Oh, also, I got crushed in a 4P game.

I am going to blame my loss on the fact that there are two extra FFFR tiles, so what seemed like a “crazy” early farmer actually turned out to be a “prescient” early farmer that scored 33 points

So you liked the 12 animal tiles included.... That's nice.

I got a fan expansion with the Gingerbread Man and the animal tiles equivalent for Summer, so I can njoy the same tile distribution in winter and summer and combine them with a transition expansion.

Double this and then the transition tiles also have some open road endings. Has anyone ever played this with bridges?!

But yes I do like the distribution. Maybe I like Wheel of Fortune distribution a little better, even if the wheel itself did not work for us.

I can tell you the fight for that field was to the death!

I suggested to use bridges too, but my opponent wasn't ready for it, so we didn't use them in this game.

One thing that happened is that we got carried away in the summer half and ran out of tiles, so many of our meeples got trapped there and had to fight for the large field and finish the winter side of the game with very few meeples... So this is another constraint you have to ponder in you mind: meeple trapping by tile depletion.

Oh that’s interesting! Maybe you could play base game plus expansions and require all non-base tiles be connected?! Oh I love that idea! Maybe Dragon, Tower, Hills and Fliers, to get a mix of expansion tiles that works without the base game?

Could try with my double-sided tiles?! All side-A must be connected. You wouldn’t have tile depletion in that case but maddeningly have a tile that fits but can’t be played.

Anyway thanks for sharing the cool game and tactical insights.

Et pour ma part je voulais savoir quelles étaient les tuiles qui font la jonction entre l’hiver et l’été ! Elle semble bien différente de la version Game Of throne et je serais curieux de me la procurer @Meepledrone

Merci à toi @Meepledrone pour les réponses et les liens même si je ne suis pas inscrit sur ce forum je vais aller y faire un tour et m’y inscrire et poster le nombre de messages qu’il faudra pour accéder à ces fichiers sympathiques ( je voulais savoir si jamais tu avais ma réponse et si elle était parti d’ailleurs ,comme je reste novice sur ce forum de la réponse en message privé sur les facteurs de Carcassonne ) merci à toi
