Scoreboard in the center of the table.
« on: March 10, 2022, 10:21:29 PM »
I recently made a post about not wanting to play the Robber or Message expansions when there are more than 2 players.  Both of these expansions are played with extra meeples on the scoreboard, and the players not sitting next to the scoreboard would have a definite disadvantage.

Wouldn’t you know it, Meepledrone came back with the logical answer, place the scoreboard in the center of the table! And he gave me a link to a starting tile that allowed this to happen, but the image was using C1 tile graphics.  So, as my name indicated, PapaGeek, I found a way to create basically the same starting tile with C2 tile graphics.

This image is only half resolution:

If you print the full sized image on a letter size sheet of paper with 1/8 inch borders, paste the paper on thin cardboard and cut it to size, it will be exactly 6 tiles by 4 tiles in size.

If you want the link to a JPEG file that is full resolution and all of the details on how the file was created, here is the link to a webpage I created for everyone to look at.  NOTE: The page is pure HTML.  There are no external Script or CSS file.  All of the necessary CSS coding is in the HTML file.

I'm currently working on that project, might be a day or two before I can post the full C2 Version.

I followed your link in earlier post and the full size .jpg linked still has the C1 track.  Will you be updating this to be the final C2 track version?  Love this!  Thanks for the effort.  +1 merit!

This could be very interesting with the Dragon, Tower and stuff like that. Imagine being able to Void up to 49 points of your opponent :o
No interest in 1st edition, but glad to help anyone looking for them. If you see something on ebay-kleinanzeigen.de and need someone to ship to your country, hit me up ^^

Yes, it will be full size within a day or two. All of the images are C2.

The HMTL file that I am using to create the Score Board center start tile is pure HTML.  It does not have any external JavaScript or other files, so hopefully everyone will trust it.

I’m building a “byo” (build your own) webpage that will allow everyone to create a private directory on their own PC, download 9 JPG tile images, and one GIF scoreboard overlay.  Then they can display and copy the pure HTML 6 tile by 4 tile Start Tile builder, custom design what they want on the Start Tile.  Then they can print whatever custom start tile they want!

I will hopefully have that link ready this week.

I did not purchase the domain name “PapaGeek” for nothing!  I built and programmed my first PC for the US Army in 1967!

Here is one version of the C2 final Start Tile

And here is the link to the page that tells you how to set up Microsoft Word to print an image that is 6 tiles long, 10 5/8 inches long.

http://papageek.com/Tile1/index.htm

I'm working on the process and pages that will allow everyone to create their own custom Score Board Start Tile.

For some reason, the image following this line didn't show up on my laptop, but the link to the image does work:
http://papageek.com/Tile1/C2Final.jpg

I had no trouble following the directions to paste that into Word and print it--perfect size on the first try!

The work to make this happen and the detailed directions are amazing.  +1 merit from me.

Bonjour,

Pourriez-vous m'envoyer le lien pour télécharger la version C1 ?

The French translation of the previous post is:

Could you send me the link to download the C1 version?

The link to download the C1 image is:

http://www.papageek.com/Tile1/C1File.jpg

But you want to make sure your printer is set up properly, or you will waste a considerable amount of ink.

The link to the border only image used to set up your printed document and your printer is:

http://www.papageek.com/Tile1/sizer.jpg

The link to my English website for the new Variant is

http://www.papageek.com/Tile1/index.htm

The important printer setup section of my website is:

1.   Click on "Page Layout"
2.   Change the orientation to "Landscape"
3.   Click the "Margins" arrow
4.   Then click "Custom Margins" at the bottom of the list
5.   Change the Top and Bottom margins to 0.7 inch
6.   Change the Left and Right margins to 0.15 inch

I’m not sure what the metric conversions for the US inches would be! Basically what you have to do is set up the margins for a landscape page, then print the border only image, then use some tiles to make sure the size of the image is correct for 6 tiles by 4 tiles. You might have to change your paper size to legal and increase your initial left and right margins to 1.65 inches.

My personal Microsoft Word will automatically resize (shrink) the oversized 1242 x 828 pixel image to fit exactly within the left and right margins.  Keep changing the margins and reprinting the sizer image until you have the proper size, then use those margins to print the C1File image.

Good luck printing your new start tile, PM me, or make another post if you have any other questions.

In my personal conversations about this new “Start Tile”, one of the comments that was made had to do with the numbers of open Roads, Cities, and Fields that were un-meepled, when you start drawing random tiles at the start of the game.

When you play with the River (1 and/or 2), as each tile is placed, the player can choose to place a meeple on whatever feature the tile has.  When you play with the center score board tile, 16 unused tiles, 20 tile edges, are unoccupied on the board before the first random tile is drawn.

One solution to this issue could be the die that comes with the Big Box for the fliers, or you could use a standard 6 sided die.  When the score board tile is placed, each player takes a turn rolling the die, a 1 or 4 lets you place a meeple on an empty road, a 2 or 5 lets you place a meeple on an empty city, a 3 or 6 lets you place a farmer on an empty field.  If you are not playing with farmers, 3 or 6 just skips your turn!

Depending on the number of players and your personal house rules, each player gets only 1 or 2 or . . . turns at rolling the die, then the game starts with X number of still empty tile features.
