I just received my Spielbox email update and it included this:

The new mini-expansion for Carcassonne "half and half" will be available in two versions. One in spielbox and one will be available in the Online-shop of Hans im Glueck. The different versions are marked. The sheet consists of 12 "half" triangle landscape cards. This expansion is playable up to 6 persons. It is possible to play with more than 6 players if more of this expansions are present.

So it's going to be two expansions that are linked, with Cundco.de selling the second of the two. The tiles will be triangular half tiles. I assume these will be used to cut-off features or to be overlaid on tiles. Either way, very interesting and new concept. The fact that Cundco is releasing half of the expansion suggests it has been at least marginally playtested and has been approved by Hans im Glück, unlike such previous expansions as Cathars, Plague, and Tunnels, which HiG only allowed but had no hand in producing or distributing. This Fall is shaping up to be a busy one for Carcassonne!

Music to my ears!!

Gonna be a lot of shopping this fall, because I'm still waiting for CundCo to get the German Monasteries and maybe belagerers..

Hmm.. I just wonder, won't you be able to feel the triangle tile when it's in the tile bag?

Like, you can search for them with your hands and choose them based on the shape?

Gerry, Spielbox ships worldwide, just go to their site: spielbox.de. I've purchased at least seven magazines from them over the years.

BabyGamer: I doubt you put the tiles in the bag. There probably is some distribution method where each player gets a certain amount of triangle-tiles. I just hope they do a better job of color-matching these ones.

possibly you will be able to choose from several second half tiles to complete the first half of your tile and make a "custom" whole tile

Just put in a pre-order on the spielbox website. Could be great for half filling holes in the board. I wonder if you will be able to start setting pieces on the hypotenuse of the triangle to start sending the game tiles off on a diagonal?! If so that would make the game even harder to complete features near the edge of the board.

However the rules come I'm looking forward to it and reckon it adds a lot of possibility for fan-based expansions.

This seems like an interesting idea, and hopefully quite simple to play too.

I've ordered a copy of the magazine, do we have any idea when Cundco will be selling the other half of this expansion?

Does anyone know, if the plague still is printed? if so then i buy both magazines:

They will most likely close off two sides (instead of four) of other features and can be used in holes (or any other legal placement.

The intent is probably so that you can get out of a jam by not having to find a perfect match on multiple sides.

The question would be is if I fill half a hole, can some one make it whole by filling the other half?
