Title: Forum Move and Issues
Post by: jcircus on April 20, 2015, 10:35:13 AM
Hello All forum users,

Just an FYI that this forum has been moved to a new server in a new data center, as such could you please respond to this thread if you experience any downtime or issues, with detailed information (like exact date/time and issue experienced) so I can track them down right away and get resolved.

Thank you.

Update :
Forum will be shutting down around 12PM PST today, for a few updates to the server. Should not take longer than 5-10 minutes.

Thank you.

Updates complete. I have added an uptime monitoring service provided by StatusCake.com for a quick check and display here of the last 30 days (uptime percent)

Thank you icircus.

When CarcassonneCentral (CarcC) is not running - then the members of the German Carcassonne-Forum (http://www.carcassonne-forum.de) (CarcF) write down the problems.

They write down when the problems start and tell the community when CarcC is again online.
Because during the downtime of CarcC we can't write at CarcC - so the members use CarcF to write down the issues.

Here at CarcF is the thread - "
CarcassonneCentral Forum (http://carcassonne-forum.de/viewtopic.php?f=153&t=100&start=240)":
http://carcassonne-forum.de/viewtopic.php?f=153&t=100&start=240 (http://carcassonne-forum.de/viewtopic.php?f=153&t=100&start=240) (example: link to page 17)

Please look for examples the pages 16-18.

Greetings
kettlefish

Thanks for the update Kettlefish. I realize you can't update this thread while it is down, but I would like to keep a record here if possible. I will check both threads daily and I have Statuscake notifying me directly if there is an automated test problem.

Thanks!

Hi jcircus,
do you need some information about our CarcC problems in the past?
The last issue was in March 2015.
------------------------
Here at CarcC we have also the admin Paul (also known as: Yellow).
He makes regular an backup of the CarcC forum.

Hi Gantry,
I am happy if CarcC would be offline only a minute, like in your example pictures.
But sometimes it was offline more than an hour or 12 hours or a very long time...

I hope that CarcC will run better with the new server.

Not sure why you keep getting up/down notifications from uptimerobot, but they are bogus. I also have the same monitor, and it shows solid uptime since 04/08/15. so why such a large difference? That's why i have switched to statuscake for all my monitoring...

okay I will remove that monitor then

Brief downtime early this morning. I am investigating the root cause.  :o

But something is strange - the time at CarcC is now 21:15 (9:15pm) for Germany- crazy

After some investigation, looks like the web server had a brief DDOS attack on that day, which caused the web engine to start issuing out 404 errors to requests.

jcircus,
thanks for the security updates.
I hope that CarcC will be online the whole month in June.

What happens here - the time at CarcC is wrong...

the real time in Germany is 01 07 2015 - 9:02 am and at the west coast of Canada 0:02am.

The time of the CarcC forum is 01 07 2015 - Germany: 16:02 and west coast of Canada 7:02

Please check this problem.

hmmm the time sync service seemed to be dead on the server. It is now fixed and at the correct time. Sorry about that.

Yes, It went offline and I contacted the datacenter as soon as I got the notice to check and reboot. I am investigating the cause. It was offline for about 1 hour.

Same happened again today - started around 1220UTC and was back around 1330UTC. Something happening at the hosting company perhaps? (backups?)

It's not normally a regular occurrence, but the fact that it has happened for the last 2 days in a row is of concern.

If it's any help the domain appeared to be up but yielded a 404 Not Found error

I dont seem to be receiving email notification from topic updates, since last night. There have been several updates to threads, but no emails.  Nothing in my spam folder either.

Should be all fixed now. The backup had an error, and was causing the webserver to stay offline. Emails should be catching up now as well.

Thanks for your patience. :)
