General / Saint Nicholas Scoring Board why not Santa Claus scoring board?
« on: November 02, 2019, 11:20:47 AM »
What I don't understand so well is that this board is called 'Saint Nicholas Scoring Board' and not 'santa Claus scoring board'?

Saint Nicholas comes on December 6 and Santa Claus around December 25. Two different figures.
On the score track there is a Christmas tree and a Christmas hat. This is for Santa Claus and not for Saint Nicholas.
For Saint Nicholas, it should rather be a chimney and a mitre.

Another question. Connect the meadows with each other if you hold the two tiles together or not?

In fact, if you place the 2 game '19. You get an open meadow and two separate cities (if the bridges do not connect the cities).

These tiles have a special composition in Sheep and Hills. However, the two cities are isolated (if you do not count the bridge).

My question is: Does that allegedly pedestrian bridge connect both city segments?

For a finished city, it does not matter whether the bridge connects the two parts or not. Because there is not a single tile with a city that has half a tile edge.
But at the end of the game, with an unfinished city, I can understand that it can cause a problem. Connect the bridge between the two cities or they are separate from each other.

(Abbey and the Mayor - King and Rober - River II - Gold_Mines - Spiel '19)

On the Spiel tile the bridge ends in a city gate. But the other known tiles, see above, have no city gate. Conclusion: I would say that the two cityparts are not connected to each other.

  • Ten tiles from Inns and Cathedrals
  • Four tiles from Traders and Builders
  • Twelve tiles from Abbey and Mayor
  • Five tiles from King and Robber Baron
  • Four tiles from Bridges, Castles and Bazaars
  • Two tiles from Hills and Sheep
  • Ten tiles from Games Quarterly

I thought that these tiles would also match the Vanilla tiles:

- 5 Spiel Promos
- 2 Spiel Doch! Promo It only has a watermark.
- 8 The Robbers It only has a watermark.
- 8 Mage & Witch It only has a watermark.
- 10 The Festival 1e edition It only has a watermark.
- 12 halflings (Spielbox) This may be only half vanilla tile worthy.  ;)
- 8 Halflings (Cundco) This may be only half vanilla tile worthy.  ;)

The game seems completely the same as the original game.
There are small image changes such as:
- Market = Chapel
- Tower = Pigsty
- little well (Fountain) = Scaffold
- Square = Fountain
- 2 keeps = 2 family houses (gate meeple)

The rules and points system remain the same.

When placing the German Cathedral tile, you have 3 options regarding the road - because you can move the ferry.

Question 1
Option 1 (E5 stays unchanged)
:yellow-meeple: C3: Road (C3-C4): 8 points
    * 2 wegen = 4 points
    * +1 point Little building
    * +3 points bonus German castle
:yellow-meeple: C3: Big Road : 28 points
    * 18 Road tiles + 3 Halflings + 4 road segments = 25 points (with Inn & witch it remains 25 points)
    * +3 points little buildings.
    * The yellow meeple goes to the bathhouse.
:yellow-meeple: on Big road: Big Road : 25 points
    * No majority road: 0 points
    * watchtower: +8 points
    * Little Buildings: 3 points
    * Labyrinth: 7 meeple: 14 points
:red-meeple: on Big road: Big Road : 78 points
    * 18 Road tiles + 3 Halflings + 4 road segments = 25 points (with Inn & witch it remains 25 points)
    * watchtower: +8 points
    * Fairy: +3 points
    * Market of Leipzig: 25 points
    * Little Buildings: 3 points
    * Labyrinth: 7 meeple: 14 points
:blue-meeple: on Big road: Big Road : 27 points
    * No majority road: 0 points
    * watchtower: +8 points
    * Little Buildings: 3 points
    * Labyrinth: 7 meeple: 14 points
    * Ringmasters: +2 punten

Option 2 (E5 the ferry changed so there was no connection with the yellow meeple)
:yellow-meeple: C3: Road (C3-C4): 8 points
    * 2 wegen = 4 points
    * +1 point Little building
    * +3 points bonus German castle
:yellow-meeple: C3: Big Road : 27 points
    * 17 Road tiles + 3 Halflings + 4 road segments = 24 points (with Inn & witch it remains 24 points)
    * +3 points little buildings.
    * The yellow meeple goes to the bathhouse.
:yellow-meeple: on Big road: Big Road : 25 points
    * No majority road: 0 points
    * watchtower: +8 points
    * Little Buildings: 3 points
    * Labyrinth: 7 meeple: 14 points
:red-meeple: on Big road: Big Road : 76 points
    * 17 Road tiles + 3 Halflings + 4 road segments = 24 points (with Inn & witch it remains 24 points)
    * watchtower: +8 points
    * Fairy: +3 points
    * Market of Leipzig: 25 points
    * Little Buildings: 3 points
    * Labyrinth: 7 meeple: 14 points
:blue-meeple: on Big road: Big Road : 27 points
    * No majority road: 0 points
    * watchtower: +8 points
    * Little Buildings: 3 points
    * Labyrinth: 7 meeple: 14 points
    * Ringmasters: +2 punten

Option 3 (E5 unfinished road)
    * Because the road is not finished, no points are awarded to  :yellow-meeple: :blue-meeple: :red-meeple:.

Question 2
Option 3 (Big unfinisched road)
    *  :blue-meeple: :red-meeple: :yellow-meeple:: Because the road has an inn, this road gets no points.

Road on A1
    :red-meeple: 8 points   * 3 roads + 1 roadsegment = 4 points
                                       * +4 for mage

Road on G1
     :yellow-meeple: 5 points: (5 tiles)
      :red-meeple: 0 points

Germain Cathedral  :blue-meeple: 34  or 23 points
       * A1 road: 8 points: 3 roadtiles + 1 roadsegment = 4 points + mages
       * Big road: *option 1: 25 points
                        * option 2: 24 points
                        * option 3: 24 points
       * C1 tile: 1 roadsegment: 1 point

E2 castle
        :yellow-meeple: 12 points (8 tiles + 1 double tile + 2 halflings)

Piramid
        :red-meeple: 5 points
         :blue-meeple: 5 points

TOTAL Q1:
                                   Option 1            Option 2          Option 3
 :red-meeple:               78p                   76p                     -
 :blue-meeple:              27p                   27p                    -
 :yellow-meeple:           61p                   61p                    -

TOTAL Q2:
 :red-meeple:              13p                    13p                   13p
 :blue-meeple:             39p                    38p                   38p

You extend the road by placing the German Cathedral. Then you CAN move the ferry. If this is moved, the solution for Q1 and Q2 will be different.

Why not the 15 road segment? It's simplyphite the game.

Official Rules / Re: Scoring quiz with roads

 15 road segments
10 tiles
counting more than once:
- German Cathedral
- Tunnels (Begin & exit) : rules:Only the visible segments of a completed road are scored.
- And why not the RrRr tiles. There are 2 different roads on it that don't came together. It's not a T-section

The road is 5 tiles long = 5 points
The inn + German cathedral: 3 points/tile (5x3) = 15 points

German castle = +3 = 18 points
Small buildings: 1 point/building: 2 buildings: +2 = 20 points
Watchtower: +2 = 22 points
Markets of Liepzig: +1 bonus points/road: +5 = 27 points

Witch: points are halved = 14 points

After counting, I get 14 points.
If it is not correct, it would be the problem with the small buildings or the Markets of Liepzig.

In this fan variant created by Canada Steve, Fishermeeple is placed on the river bank.
http://www.carcassonnecentral.com/images/posts/hook%20line%20and%20sinker.pdf

I was wondering if you could also place a fishermeeple on the shore of the lake from the mini expansion, the ferries?
There is also a lake in the 'The School' expansion.

General / Re: Favouritism Poll #8 - Spiel Tiles
« on: July 18, 2019, 02:20:14 PM »
This topic has been calm for a while. But I want to open it up again for discussion. When I looked closely at the Spiel '15 and '18 tiles, I noticed that 2 gaming tables were the same. (A & B) The more I looked, the more similarities I saw. Not only in those two tiles, but in all Spiel tiles.

The letters in white are the characters that come back in Spiel '18. The numbers in yellow are similarities in the other Spiel tiles.
It is a nice concept to have characters come back and put them in a different context.

I hope I haven't missed anyone.

Which character would you like to see in Spiel '19?

I also prefer the C1 version. It seems more logical than a wagon that can suddenly jump. It make no sense.
But I also do understand that they want to simplify the rules with the C2.
