New vs old
« on: December 02, 2021, 08:39:53 AM »
Hello all! Husband an I are getting back in to Carcassonne after taking a hiatus to have future Carcassonne players. We have the base and a couple of expansions in the old style and want keep that style. I’m trying to get the older expansions, but people are only posting pictures of the front of the box so I can’t tell which version it is. Is there a quick way to tell which version a box is?

New edition artworks are drawn more realistically rather than the old ones.

You can compare box arts over here:

Completed: Robber's Son | Gambler's Luck | Vistas Revisited | First Wells | The Flying Machines 2
WIP: The Occult Tower | Binding Deed | Wandering Preachers | City Gates Rebuilt | New King's Orders

you don't really answer her ;)

Yes the picture of front of box IS different on older versions, if you want to have all the pictures go to wikicarpedia

https://wikicarpedia.com/index.php/Main_Page#Major_Expansions

You can click on the expansion you want to be sure it's the one you want :)

Edit: Not better than Snearone wrote, if your box has picture on any of the boxes on timeline, it's old version

You try to buy second hand ?
