A Version 3 would be horrifying so soon. Should support C2 for at-least another 5 years I would hope.

A new expansion could be nice, I'm kind of done buying expansions, I think I'll do Hills & Sheep and maybe The Tower for the heck of it, but I don't really want to touch Princess & Dragons and Under the Big Top. Releasing the Mini expansions would be appreciated, I do kind of need to replace my base and I think I&C because they changed the ground color but I'm not looking to spend that kind of money on it. The mini expansions do seem a little lackluster though, I guess the Messengers, Ferries, and Mage&Witch seem to be the better ones?

I'd like to see Tunnels explored more or maybe traders. I saw some fan expansions like fisher huts on the river or boars and apples in forest tiles but that seems to require a decent size rework to add in new features like forest and playable rivers.

Fliers and Goldmines were always my favourites, followed by Mage & Witch. Ferries was always popular with everyone else though. Messengers and Robbers never really stood out for me.

Not sure what to expect anymore, I'm just glad I don't even attempt to navigate the labyrinth of rules that gets increasingly complex every time they do release something!

Hmm. Probably, yes. The only one that springs to mind though is Die Belagerers/ The Besiegers. This was first released in a special tin box that was only available from German supermarkets and was limited to 1000 units. The box contained the base game + a brand new expansion: The Besiegers. There was nowhere else this expansion could be found at that time, hence why some of the boxes were going on German eBay for four times their value (there are some old threads about it on here somewhere). Soon afterwards, HiG/ Cundco released it as a shrink-wrapped expansion through their web-shop for a sensible price and it wasn't difficult to get hold of (for a short while)!

So there's some hope, but the situation with the 2012 minis in new art feels distinctly different, so it's difficult to say...

It's not a bad idea and has been discussed before, but it would be the largest expansion to date: 48 tiles, 12 meeples, plus gold bricks, die, bridge pieces, and two neutral meeples. Quite a lot. Enough for two expansions really, if they wanted to spread them out. I'd still prefer a new expansion, though, or one that unified various promos together.

I guess, there will be no C3 design for some years
C2 was released in 2014 - 14 years after first release of C1. Currently we are in year 2020 (just 6 years after C2).
Last year they create new type of playing: Carcassonne Maps in C2 design. They will want to sell them.

Good point is that this year is 20th annyversary. HiG will publish some anniversary/collector edition, like on 10th with transparent Meeples.

About expansions:
BigBox 2017 is still in stores in all of languages. So Minis 1-7 are still available to buy in this box.

What is missing is "Plague/Siege/Belagerer" in C2 design. It will be nice to publish. But it this time, it can be not good ad for HiG or ZMAN or maybe yes (I think first option).

Currently there are only two official expansions which use Farms and Stables or printed Highwaymen - Markets of Leipzig and Tollkeepers.

So maybe it will come some expansion which will use these printed symbols.

Carcassonne are no longer available in stores then HiG switched from Schmidt Spiele zu Asmodee. I guess HiG will left Asmodee soon.

HiG should release a new Big Box in 2020 or 2021 too, right?

If so, would they bundle something unreleased yet so you have to invest in coin to get it?

That's what usually happens, even if it's only a slightly different version of a pre-existing expansion with maybe only one or two tiles changed. I'm looking at you BB5...
