Science is overpowered if you can get them all but because it's pretty OP, everybody notices directly when someone attempts to play only the science cards.

Science is certainly very powerful, but to benefit from it most you need to go all-out to collect everything and forsake most of the other paths to victory. So, powerful but appropriately risky given the potential it has. :)

As I play and research more and more games, I'm becoming more open and less picky than I was before and can appreciate different types of games more. With that in mind, I'm starting to revisit 7 Wonders. I just watched a run through of it and I think I'm on board now!

A great game with the full compliment of 7 players

I think it's a great game with any number of players except for 2. But then there's 7 Wonders Duel for 2 players only which is also excellent.

Rahdo (who plays almost exclusively with 2 in all his games) argues that it's BEST with two, because the presence of the free city gives you even more strategy than with any other count. But as you said, for those who disagree with that, there's Duel.

Edit: BGG voting has 4 as the best player count and recommended at 3, 5, 6 and 7.

I really want to play it with 6-7 players. Only played it with 3 so far.

Don't remember if we've ever been 7 players but 5-6 players most of time in my gaming club. This, and Splendor, is often a wind down game before we go home for the night.

I hope to try a 7 pl game soon and remember it. :)

And often we play with Leaders and Babel.

I'm not a huge fan of the 2 player version (although I love Duel so that doesn't matter). I think the game works very well with any other number of players although personally I think 4-5 is ideal. Has anyone tried the team/ 8 player variants in the cities expansion?

And often we play with Leaders and Babel.

Is the Babel expansion good? Its the only one I don't have.

It has some very interesting new mechanics. I like it, but the time to set up a game increases a lot. Making it less interesting some times to do a quick game..

I bought it soon after it came out but have only been able to play the expansion options once each. The team project expansion was pretty fun. It just adds an extra element. Babel itself was a little wonky, to be honest. It was too much of a wildcard during our game and impacted the game excessively, and not in a good way. Also, the number of random components for this expansion seems really unnecessary. I feel like they went a bit overboard designing this thing and should have gone with a simpler idea. Perhaps they should have just done the team build idea and had Babel be one of those. It would have made the expansion more manageable.

As it stands, I consider Cities, Leaders, and the Wonder Pack as all core elements of my 7 Wonders game — I play with them almost every time — but Babel just takes up space on my shelf, waiting for some friends who express an interest in it.

For those who haven't been following 7 Wonders on Facebook today, they made a series of announcements (7, naturally) to celebrate their 7th anniversary and 7/7/17.

The most interesting (for me, anyway) is the anniversary pack of mini-expansions for Leaders and Cities, available in October. They also announced they are seeking beta testers for an app version and that they have a new website, among other things. I was hoping the 4th expansion (Armada) would be announced, but it looks like it's not to be.

I'm beta tester for the iPad app. Interface while playing is well designed although not as slick as some other boardgame ports. The nicest feature is being able to play with 2 expansions, Leaders & Cities! I like the app very much so far.
