After the success of the two Carcassonne tournaments that we’ve run here this year (plus the forum photo game), I’ve been consulting with my most trusted confidants about what tournaments could be run in 2015 to keep things interesting whilst continuing to hone our Carcassonne playing skills.
At present, the plan is to build on this year’s success by running five different online competitions over the course of the year. Two of these will be re-runs of the competitions held this year which means that the base-game only Carcassonne League and the World Cup of Carcassonne Central should both be taking place again in 2015 and will follow the same (or similar) rules as they did this year.
In addition, there will be three new “expansion leagues” which will be similar in format to the previous league but with the exception that all games will be played using a certain expansion; one expansion per league. Which expansions will be included hasn’t been decided yet, but it’s likely that all three will be chosen from the first five major expansions and that just one of the more destructive expansions will be included.
As before, all games will be played online using JCloisterZone. There will be opportunities to resolve any technical difficulties nearer the time (or just drop me a message if you like), but if you think you might be interested in taking part in one or more of these competitions then now is the time to make sure you have the latest version of JCloisterZone up and running on your computer and that you know how to play it!
More details regarding the first of the expansion leagues and the opportunity to sign up for it will be available later this month so stay tuned!
