General / The Ballad of Carcassonne
« Last post by Snearone on February 21, 2024, 03:08:28 AM »
I usually work on graphics, but this time I teamed up with a talented musician friend who helped me turn the lyrics into an actual song.
After too much fine-tuning, which resulted in a delayed release date, it is finally complete.
Enjoy :)

Quote
[Verse 1]
Gather round the table if you dare,
Tiles, followers, score track, beware,
This is Carcassonne, this is a fight,
A medieval world, by strategy's might.

Tile by tile, laying the land,
The cities grow, and the roads expand,
Cloisters rise, in fields so deep,
Beautiful sights, memories to keep.

[Chorus]
Carcassonne, the board unfolds,
Building realms, tales untold,
Strategize each clever turn,
There is always much to learn.

[Verse 2]
Carcassonne Central, where we unite,
All of us far away, yet on the same site,
Merits are given, discussions cascade,
Fan expansions in the workshop are made.

There is Wikicarpedia, a digital scroll,
Whre Lies the codex, that all things control,
Collected knowledge, so clear and neat,
Encyclopedia which makes rules complete.

[Chorus]
Carcassonne, the board unfolds,
Building realms, tales untold,
Strategize each clever turn,
There is always much to learn.

Unofficial Rules / Re: New general rule for The Wells
« Last post by Bumsakalaka on February 19, 2024, 01:07:04 PM »
Whenever possible, I would prefer a wording indicating that any given expansion adds +1 point per well. Expansions normally do that to the number of points a coat of arms or a tile is worth. In the basic case, going from 1 point to 2 points can be seen as doubling the value when it it just adding +1 point.

Yah I know, but here we are
1. Inns - When a player completes a road with one or more inns, the scoring player(s) receive each 2 points per tile forming this completed road (instead of the usual 1 point per tile).
2. German Cathedrals - When you complete a road leading directly to a cathedral your highwayman/traveler gives you 2 points for each road tile the road consist of.

So we play it as 1 + 1 + 1.

And as I wrote. This is general rule for new expansions and for expansions author doesn't know. And explicitly exclude Mage from this (which as we know, are getting bonus only for tiles in the city and not for the coat of arms). So +1 per tile is not enough for get that bonus also for well.

Official Rules / Re: Moving the fairy (castles and wagons)

So the dragon is capable to enter both tiles located partly below the castle token with the fairy?

That's how I understand it: you can assign the fairy to a meeple placed in a castle (lord). If the fairy is assigned to a knight that turns into a lord, then the fairy will stay assigned to that meeple, that is, it moves from the city to the castle. If the fairy is assigned to a lord, the fairy does not protect any tiles. The lord cannot be eaten by the dragon, but the dragon can step on the 2 tiles with the small city segments underneath the castle, as the fairy does not protect them.

Sounds indeed logical and reasonable.
