Official Rules / Re: Shared points for a city« on: June 14, 2023, 07:10:45 PM »I think the sort of play you're referring to is entirely fair though. I think it's unjust, unequal, and unfair to demand that another player has to be nice to you at the expense of their own detriment! Well said! Thank you so so much, Decar. 9

I seem to be the only person on this side of the globe reporting to have received a package. And judging by how close I live to the regional sorting centre, I reckon it should take at least a few more days for other folks in the States to get theirs.
And just to add a data point to what kind of delay you might expect in anticipation of a mail piece... I came home to find a slip that said the USPS had missed me and the package needed a signature. The only way for me to get it was to go to the storage unit in my city. Normally, this would do. But... this package is registered mail, so the postmaster keeps it in the safe. And of course, the postmaster gets off of work when I get off of work . They allowed me to sign the slip and drop it off in my mailbox and told me that they would deliver it to the mailbox if the signed slip would be there. And I finally got it! 10

While it's always exciting to see new expansions, tiles that are not 1*1 squares are just recipes for chaos IMHO. And where are we heading now? Polyominoes?

I can work on Mandarin Chinese. I started to translate Wikicarpedia but very soon that ground to a halt. Hopefully, I can finish it for JCloisterZone before losing momentum.

Happy holidays everyone!
And many thanks to Meepledrone for the quiz. Echoing oldbonz, Q24 was horrifying. We drove for 7 hours in the day for vacation and came back to find this, so I was like... This is the exam I'm gonna make up random numbers that are "not even wrong". 15
Official Rules / Re: What is "unfair play" in Carcassonne?« on: December 20, 2022, 05:44:24 PM »I thought it just meant "don't cheat". Agree! Answering the OP: Since when strategy and skill are unfair? My philosophy towards games, between 2 adults or 2 teams, is always: if you are not OK with the rules, change the rules; if you can't change the rules, go play building blocks. One of the points makes sense to me and my group. We seriously had a discussion about a 1-against-2 game. The idea is that the side of 2 players should get much more points to be considered a "draw" between the two sides, but it's difficult to decide how much more. |
