German/Dutch/Belgian monasteries

(1/1)

Rosco:
I had a game with one set of six off these this morning and it ended up with one person getting five of them and scoring a whopping 114 points with them. I now tend to agree with those that said that these are too powerful. It's there any official rule to limit their scoring? If not then I think I will propose a fan expansion to counter them. Mauve like the cults but for Abbott's on monasteries. Maybe Stonehenge and similar such places.

In my opinion the monasteries are to powerful in small games. But in big games, with the dragon, the plague, the count and the towers, they work quite well.

Its in big games where they get powerfull
You have to work on making gaps now. To counter it.
And indeed add the fliers and the dragon

Yea, they get even more powerful in big games. But the one who place them have little chance of scoring them if they are not placed very late in the game. It’s lots of opportunities to eliminate an abbot with the dragon, the plague or the towers in a big game. Then another player can claim it with a flier, portal or the city of Carcassonne.

We are planning a really big game during this week with both the German and Dutch/Belgian monasteries. I will come back with a report of how it went.
