I need some clarification on that. I've never seen the BB7 with tuck boxes. Yes, you can store 5 of the them in the "?" area of the box, but nothing else seems to be organized for expansion. Not even the tray that lays on top of the tiles is big enough for some large tile expansions to lay flat. Normally, one just removes the insert in order to maximize storage potential. But this one seems especially prone to too big a box or not deep enough or something. I mean it feels and looks like you can shove a lot in there by keeping the insert but I've not seen it pulled off yet. And I agree that plastic inserts are a problem. But, at least with BB1, you have the entire tower to store additional expansions! 4

I was able to obtain a good (box scuffs) to mint condition (game materials), unpunched, Big Box (1) by RGG. I wanted this particular version since it has the original artwork style (which I've never owned), and included the tower. Interestingly, not only did it include "the river" as mentioned on the box cover, it also contained "the River II" in one those mini boxes. I don't recall seeing this mentioned in the wiki, and I doubt the seller just tossed it in, but who knows.
My first experience with Carcassonne was the 20th edition (just to see if I liked it), then Mists (Wife and I love playing that), and then buying lots of stuff from cundco (and trying to find all C3 with round corner prints). Even though this big box has a lot of wasted space, it's miles better than the galaxy of waste from BB7. I might be able to contain myself until next year when maybe all the newly republished stuff will show up in the USA. But missing out on the Pink and Purple meeples for players 7 and 8 is an itch that is starting. But first I'm still trying to find a Winter C3 edition ![]() 5

Does anyone know if Winter V3 is coming to North America anytime? I'm tempted to just buy the German version, but it goes in and out of stock, and we won't talk bout shipping costs. With the rebranding/doing/publishing coming in September, I figure we won't see any of that goodness States side until 2026, maybe.

Is there a place / page dedicated to showing the fake games and what to look out for?

General / Re: 2025: What should we expect from HiG« on: February 05, 2025, 03:43:17 PM »Reading from my wishlist, I´d love to see HiG focusing on two things this (or any next) year: I'd love to be able to GET a Winter Edition! The few places online that were selling WE C3 seem to have stopped and there was never an English version. Even the older version(s) is challenging to find now. I don't see Z-Man pulling off a WE this year. And with the news of all the expansions getting a revamp... On top of that, I noticed a large price drop in the BB7 German edition (almost half of what I paid a few weeks ago). 9
General / Re: Big Box 7 C3 art with C2 cut?« on: January 30, 2025, 05:11:49 AM »
In case someone in the USA is looking for a BigBox with rounded tiles, I ordered the German version from Amazon.de which cost about $45 less than ordering a German version from amazon.com. I was a little concerned when the package showed up only wrapped in heavy paper, but it it was in better condition having traveled from Italy to the USA than most local package deliveries.
I was worried I had made a mistake because the German version I received was printed in the Netherlands instead of Germany. My BB7 Z-Man was printed in the Netherlands and has square tiles. But the date on the box showed 2024 so who knows. Well, opening it up and it indeed has the rounded cuts, the sheets appear to be laid out the same as the Z-Man box I have -- not at all like the made in Germany edition (with a punch out score track and blank tiles). I'm happy now to finally have a nice complete set with rounded corners in C3. I'm one of those people that the artwork differences between C2/C3 didn't bother me that much, but the feel of the tiles annoyed me to no end. 10

The colors on the reddit post are exaggerated. They are also posted on BoardGameGeek and have the same over saturation of colors on the box and playing pieces. Actually, most places I look the colors are overly vibrant. I'll take a pic of mine on the shelf, but it might pop the colors too.

Apparently they don't sell many maps of France and have decided to use them as packaging material.

The right box has both Abbot and River and has a different part number HIGD0508 vs 0506.
Annoyingly, amazon.de's Hans Im Gluck store isn't showing that number, otherwise I would buy it and have it shipped to the USA. 13

Circling back around to this thread. Is the German BB7 the only version with rounded tile cuts? The tile sheets are laid out differently from the English edition.
Oddly enough the artwork matching between a 2.x expansion and 3.0 doesn't bother me, what bothers me are the squarish tiles used with rounded tiles. I started my Carcassonne life with the 20th edition set and have now strived to find all rounded tiles to match with it. I've purchased several things from cundco in C3 (and round), but getting copy of BB7 german imported (even through Amazon) is crazy expensive. Especially when I just need the tiles, I have the ZMan BB7 English and just don't like the feel ![]() 14

When they say “vertically adjacent” do they mean orthogonal? Because the garden example is horizontally adjacent and diagonally, not vertically.
