Yi started out ahead in this game by completing a few small cities while we both eyed what looked to be potentially large farms on either side of the river. I drew a cathedral tile early, added it to my own city (near another incomplete city of mine), joined my two cities together, managed to thwart any potential chance to trap my meeples, and then completed it before Yi's large meeple could join the party. This gave me the lead and I was able to build on it for the rest of the game. Yi decided to go hard on farms and once he used his large meeple on a farm, I determined that the farms weren't that big after all and that I should go for other things instead. I drew the second cathedral tile and managed to complete another city with it (in fact Yi completed it to get trade goods). I then joined Yi's large city to the south just in case he managed to finish it, and at the very end I got my large meeple in it to score a significant number of points even though it was incomplete. I used my builder to good effect throughout the game and won cities by more than 100 points. As I suspected, the farms didn't score heavily in the end so I made the right decision not to go all-in. Thanks for the game Yi and good luck for the rest of the tournament!

In my game with What If?, he started well and built a 30-40 point lead when we started battling for what turned out to be a huge cathedral city with a lot of trade goods. He drew the right tiles and managed to take control of it and close it, which gave him a lead of well over 100 points and a guaranteed 20 more from trade goods that I was never realistically going to be able to pull back. I spent the rest of the game trying to control and build up a farm and trying to control and build up a large city with the hope that I could add the second cathedral to it. I eventually did that, but probably should not have added the cathedral as there was only a tiny chance by that point that I could close the city. Still, I decided to go for it anyway on the off-chance that I could significantly reduce the margin for points difference purposes. In the end I scored nothing for it but at least my farm helped reduce the margin a tiny bit.

What If 240 - Choose Life 238
A very interesting game were momentum seemed to switch back and forth, and the lucky tile fairy blessed us both in different important situations. In the end a sneaky win.

Grabushka told me that she has been in touch with ny1050220 and jungleboy so far. But silence radio from Chooselife, jma03, and What If? We are in Essen this weekend, but feel free to contact her next week to arrange your games.
