so yes its true and theres gonne be a new one.

But, who would buy it?

if 1 thing i learned, is that new graphics always limit the buyer.. see the wherewolves, i bought the jubileumedition, nice.. but i was never able to buy the new expansions unless i bought the 2 games in the old graphics that already were in my edition. so i never did..

i give you 2 options to this question.

I voted the first option, for now consider the new version as the winter edition, a thing apart. The collecting is one of the worst diseases.

This is a good attitude to have, well said quevy. But my biggest problem is that the publishers don't seem to be thinking this way. Apparently they want you to mix these new tiles with old expansions and somehow don't understand that this ruins the whole experience.

I for one can't blame the publishers. As much as I dislike changing things as a collector-fan-costumer, I also know the business end of things and they need to revamp or refresh the game.

It's like a movie remake.

I find all this talk of "it'll be OK because the backs are the same" a bit of a moot point because the graphics on the front will be completely different. Surely this is obvious? Or does everyone else play Carcassonne with the tiles upside-down?

In one way I am glad that they are doing this. Now I can finally see the end of the road for my collection of Carcassonne.

Will I buy the new edition? Hell no!

I agree. I feel I can have a complete collection now because I won't be buying tiles with the new artwork. I have a feeling that it may be a one-off thing, but it may not be. My wife pointed out that Catan rebooted its graphics three times over the years and each time all new expansions used the new graphics. There is a good chance this is a permanent change and that 2014 will be the last year with old graphics. The new Spielbox expansion has the old graphics, so that's still a must-have.
