@Ker42 great game!  Thanks for sharing the photo and the story.
That is a monster Inn road bottom left!   >:D

Looks like you all really like the Ferries, too.  My kids hate those.

Also, did you include the Zoo in there?  I see some escaped animals…

After seeing 5 people interested, I decided to make more double-sided tiles!  I was able to use up almost all of my unneeded extra tiles, ending up with 3 sets of 73 tiles (no missing tile here)!  I literally drew the names out of a Phillies hat and the winners are:
If the winners could message me with shipping information, I will get the packages in the mail.  The tiles fit very nicely in a standard expansion box.  I also had exactly 3 extra scoreboards, which fit perfectly in those boxes when cut in half.  Finally, I will put in whatever appropriate wood bits (ferries, gold bars, dragon, etc.) I have for the tiles that ended up in each box.  The meeples will be up to you, but they should be able to fit in the box as well.

Glad to find happy homes for what I think is a really fun variant.

Cheers!

The Marketplace / WTG: About 100 double-sided C1 tiles

About 18 months ago, I made a set of 60 double-sided Carcasssonne tiles.  My original idea was to keep make only a small set, 60 tiles plus a start tile.  But then I got carried away and started adding things and eventually ended up with many more tiles than I need.

I have been yet again reorganizing my collection and now I am ready to give away about 100 of these double-sided tiles.  It includes 12 double-sided River/City tiles, but I'm keeping the double-sided Abbeys.  Otherwise, it is a mix of base game and random selections from many expansions.  You can use some expansion rules (e.g. Inns, Fliers, Hills, Ferries, Belagerer all work fine, regardless of how many tile are in play).  For others (e.g. a handful of tower tiles) you can just ignore the expansion rules.  We usually ignore everything except the Inns.  The variety of edge combinations makes the tile draw seem very random and unpredictable, but the balance of tile types makes for a good game (e.g. not too many cities or roads).

The feel of the tiles really is great and the game is quite fun with experienced players; I might avoid this with newbies because of the extra decision making.

I'm happy to ship them (just tiles) anywhere for free.  I really just want someone to get some use out of them.

Please reply here if you are interested.  If we have more than one interested person, we'll have a lottery.

Cheers.

+1!

I'm especially thankful for posts like this because they help me convince my family that my Carcassonne obsession could be even more profound and consuming... >:D

The video doesn't give instrumental and vocal credits...are you playing or singing?

Well, a month on and there seems to be no fix from Google, so I think it has to be a new security "feature".

I discovered a pretty simple edit that seems to work.  Just use this format for the img tag:
Code: [Select]
[img]https://drive.google.com/thumbnail?id=<insert google file id here>&sz=w350[/img]
The "w350" specifies the width.

I updated my first forum post -- perhaps a few others can confirm that they see the image at the top of this post:
https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=4962.msg76193#msg76193

I may try to work my way through all ~800 of my posts and update the image links... good memories  :)

Thanks everyone for your help.

@Bugo Hoss you might be interested in my brief “tactical tuesday” series:

Sadly the embedded image links to google drive seem to be broken.  Here’s a link to the top level folder in which you can find each week’s files:

+1 merit from me for posting in the usually quiet “Strategy Guide” forum!  Keep it coming!

Welcome to the forum, @Bugo Hoss!

I love this question!  There must be something more recent, but the only CarcBot I know of is from Maastricht in 2009, discussed in this thread:
https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=542.msg5804#msg5804

I also mention this work in the context of wondering what the value of an extra meeple might be--see here:
https://www.carcassonnecentral.com/community/index.php?topic=5228.msg77118#msg77118

Here's what I think I do with my first tile:
Any city tile: connect to the city on the start tile and place a knight.
Cloister: connect to field on start tile and place a monk.  On FFFR cloister, point the road downward to encourage surrounding the cloister?  Hmm...
FRFR: connect to the road and place a thief
FFRR: connect to the road and point the road up to make it less likely that the opponent tries to join the road?
FRRR: connect to the road with the field segment down and place a thief on the 2-tile road
RRRR: only one play allowed, and place a thief on the 2-tile road.

There are 24 tile edge topologies (only 17 in the base game), so even by the time you reach tile 2, it is a pretty big matrix of options.  It also seems like the outcome is not very strongly affected by the early play.  Having said that, if the city is still open I try to claim it.

I'm super interested in Alpha-Zero type AI applications to Carcassonne.  Hopefully someone else might know more...

Thanks for an interesting post.

Got a 1995 German Edition of “Linie 1” (“Streetcar” in US).

Like a cross of TransAmerica (all tracks are shared), Ticket to Ride (everyone has secret goal), and Carcassonne (tile placement).  Plus an exciting race after your line is completed!

Thanks @Snearone for the very informative links.

Ugh.  I’m hoping they can fix it somehow but not optimistic.

I checked then on three browsers on PC (firefox, opera, chrome) on my phone on two (firefox, chrome) and have not encountered any problems both on the site and via tapatalk, via home internet and mobile.
In addition I also recently looked at CarcC from another country and different PC, also no problems with your photos.
Wow, thanks!  Confusing…

I can also see the photos on Tapatalk.
Thanks

That's interesting and helpful.  Thanks.  Just to confirm: on Tapatalk, there is an image between the horizontal lines (from the "hr" tag)?

I have had this google drive failure intermittently before, typically where some images in a post will load and others won't.  It would always resolve within a day or two.  But now it seems to be all images fail all the time on all of my devices.    :(

I am posting this partly as an example to share with google support but also in case anyone else has any insight.

Since I started posting here almost 3 years ago, I have always embedded images that are stored on google drive, but all of those images are now not showing up!   :-[

As an example, between the two horizontal lines below, there is an "img" tag linking to a google drive image, but it won't show up any more. (Please reply if you see the image!)

The google drive share permissions are fine, because you can just click on the link that is inside the "img" tag and it works

For comparison, here is what the image looks like when shared from my new Flickr account.

But don’t take it too seriously.   ;)

Your daughter seems to have good farmer skills—her 2 fields at the right have 7 cities?!

Did the dragon wipe out a farmer in the field where the dragon stands now?  That looks like a lot of unclaimed farm points!

Thanks again for sharing a pretty epic landscape.
