New expansion teased featuring castle moats
« on: October 03, 2023, 02:06:44 AM »
At CundCo a new expansion is teased in one of their hyperlink images. It features depictions of castle moats. Not much is known at this point, but I thought it was worth sharing. It can be found here: https://cundco.de/spielregeln/

Love the looks of the new tiles, can’t wait to find out how they will affect the rules for the rest of the game.

What I like most is that this type of additional feature is something that would have possibly existed 2500 years ago when Carcassonne was defending itself against the Roman Empire!
Totally addicted to this game

2500 years ago the Romans were not settled in Carcassonne

OK, that was a little exaggerated, but only slightly!

“The Cité's first stones were placed in 122 BC by the world's greatest conquerors at the time, the Romans. They occupied the Languedoc until 5th century, until the arrival of the Visigoths.”

So the first stone of Carcassonne City was laid by the Romans about 2023 + 122, 2145 years ago, not 2500!

I was telling you this just because the Greeks were mainly established in Gaul 2500 years ago, I didn't want to act like a professor

Hahahaha!  Yes, we are an insufferable lot!

I spent some time trying to spoil the fun in a professorial way, googling the history of the city and moats in France, but didn’t find anything too convincing.

Anyway, this looks interesting.  Maybe when we have rules I’ll try to make a C1 variant that uses wood bits as moats…

@Buselaar, wow, well spotted! I definitely wouldn't have caught that. Looks very interesting though. (Must admit, any water-feature is likely to get me excited because I love being both on and in the water. ;))

@oldbonz, love the boat at that 'moat-side' door!

HiG found out about this leak during Essen Spiel.  They explained that sometimes interns would use images from their art asset folder to make nice images and clearly this time there is a mistake.  We're likely to see this one during Advent.  I suggested that the intern would not be making this mistake again....  C:-)
