Lately the rules have been so poorly written; this gives them the possibility to update the rules and the QR code always goes to the latest version. Even better if they would go to Wikicarpedia. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Asmodee has not bothered to organize a Canadian National Championship the last few years. A lady from the USA organizing committee was in touch with me about organizing one for Canada, but then she made contact with someone who was interested to organize it and I never heard anything more. Hopefully either that person or Asmodee applies to organize a 2024 tournament. I just don’t have the time for it.

HiG has agreed that expansions can be converted by CarcF, but they limited the speed as which that can be done.
And CarcF further limits their own speed. To be clear, they are allowed to go faster than they have been.

I read every word of that! Too bad that you didn't have time to drop-in at Ringo's along the way.
If anyone is interested to learn more about the upsidedown railway, here is a short video:

My 2012 Winter Edition is an HiG, but in comparing the two I see that both have the date of manufacture stamped on the inside of the box, so I think you're getting a genuine version.
Those 50-point meeple-shaped tokens appear to be 3D printed. It's a used copy, so clearly the previous owner has upgraded it slightly. If I were ever to sell a game, people can expect the same from me.

Since this is the Official Rules forum, officially you're not allowed to move the tiles. The starting tile is supposed to go in the middle of the table and that's that. When you reach the edge, you may add another table of similar height, or disallow expansion in that direction. I think also officially the edges of the table do not complete features, though if I recall correctly the situation is different with maps. There are several inconsistencies like this in the official rules.
Unofficially, at my house I allow the tiles to be moved once after the river is finished, before we switch to the non-river tiles. I like to center the entire river on the table so that everyone has roughly equal opportunity to build towards their edge of the table.

There are several official and non-official expansions that have a distinctly medieval theme (such as Joff's medieval series, or the Plague expansion). As Bumsakalaka said, there have been non-medieval elements long before the pandemic. The next official expansion, Wonders of the World (working title, subject to change), introduces pre-medieval buildings.

Offering suggestions is encouraged by the rules, but I’m struggling to understand how it becomes unfair when you know what the tile is in advance. Typically the unfairness argument is that it prevents other players from being able to draw that tile.
