I am not travelling during that period, so it is very likely I will attend! :(y):yellow-meeple:
Some info translated from Dutch:
The official Dutch Championship Carcassonne in 2016 will take place on March 20 at the Zuiderspel event in Veldhoven.
Everyone plays three rounds with only the basic game. Then the best four players will play two final rounds. The first three rounds are with 3, 4 or 5 players at a table. The final two rounds are duels. The winner will get a cash prize of 150 euro and also will qualify for the World Championship in Essen (Germany) and be granted the right to call himself/herself the Dutch Champion of Carcassonne in 2016.
Participation is free. Participants however will have to pay an entrance fee to the fair of € 6 per person. Advance registration is required. For the first 64 participants who register will have a goodie bag waiting for them at the tournament. There is room for 128 participants. You can register until March 15, and it is very simple: send an email with your name and mobile number to inschrijven@rollthedice.nl
After the tournament, you can still enjoy 2 500 square metres of gaming fun at the fair. If you fancy, you can then play a game.
Date: March 20, 2016
Location: NH Conference Centre Koningshof Locht 117, 5504 RM Veldhoven
Time: The tournament starts at 11:00 and lasts until around 15:00.
More information about the details of the tournament can be found here: http://www.rollthedice.nl/activiteiten/nk-carcassonne/

You live close? For me it's quite easy to get there: 20 min by train plus another 20 min by bus.
-
Live nearby Genk, In Belgium. Think it's about an hour-ish.

Aww, all the way in Veldhoven, won't be able to make it on the 20th. Pity! Hey Valheru, your username just reminded me of a great MMORPG I used to play years ago :))

Care to elaborate on that MMORPG?

If you take the train at 7am you can arrive on time :) Don't you travel for free as a student? (or is it just during weekdays?)

Not a student anymore :gray-meeple:. I'll be at my parents that weekend, celebrating my dad's 70th birthday. Next time, who knows!

Not going well at all... 2 games played: 3rd and 4th. Haha!
That's what I thought.. I have used all my luck yesterday.
Doesn't matter, I'm having fun :)
-
Jéré, have fun in the NL Championship.
-
I do, I do! :)
3rd again. Bah! I knew one day I would completely screw up in those 4-player games. That was a bit expected...
First game, I finished 3rd. First and second shared a huge city and that made the difference.
Second game, I was the third player to start. In a 4-player game, 4th player to start will play one turn less than the other 3 which is a bit unfair imo. Guess what happened? I drew the CCCC tile and couldn't place it anywhere so that meant I had lost a turn... Crap! Rest of the game was also not so good... Finished 4th despite sharing the main field worth 30 pts with another player.
In my last game, there was a player that absolutely refused to share any features so she stole a field and a city from me. Ok fine, but we both sank. She finished last and I, 3rd. She also invested 3 meeples to steal a road from another player. Not a good strategy in a multiplayer game. Anyway, everybody was in a good mood and was joking about it.

86 is a good number of participants. I notice that these Dutch National Championships used almost the same format as at the UK National Championships i.e. three multiplayer rounds followed by the top 4 players going through to two 2-player rounds. I'd like to be able to make the UK Championship consist entirely of 2-player games, but this is not going to be possible because it would require too much space (or so I've been told). But I've made a small change for the better - this year the top 8 players will go through to three knock-out rounds in 2-player format.
