I believe they have confirmed a future release of Count, King & Cult, which also includes River II, so yes.

lol. But henrysunset, you've only posted twice to this site! At least the current one. Perhaps you need to get your old stats restored?

Surprising package?! What's this you say? I want a surprising package!   :o Leave it to mysterious packages to get me to break my silence after all this time!  ;)

lol. Our once-famous author of many-a-great fan expansion has returned at last! I was wondering what happened to whom my wife and I call "Putt-Putt". Where've you been lately and any current projects?

Hehehe. Am I allowed to say what was included in my package? It was quite surprising and exciting!

Update: Kettlefish said that I could say I received a special post card with meeple-shaped birthday balloons in addition to the other things. I'm not allowed to say what the rest of the things were yet.

Or do what I do and just skip scoring for the fairy. We used to score for it, but it ended up being more of a burden than a benefit, even to the person getting the points. I'm not even sure why the fairy is worth points. Protecting valuable features from the dragon is important enough.

No problems on my end, but I haven't tried to post for a while.

I was able to see posts every day over the past week, though.

I agree. I've only played the game once and we had a dictator in the group, so I can't really do anything except spread the word...which I'm also restricted on since my wife can't know I'm pledging. Please pledge for this! I'd love to see the $200k goal unlocked. I'm pledging at the $100 level plus $12 to get the next expansion included in the batch.

No, I have to disagree with that. There's a subtle difference between a BigBox compilation and permanently combining small expansions into a large expansion.

All this whining and griping. I voluntarily bought CK&C three years ago and gave my single expansion boxes to friends. Now all the tiles that were included in that compilation have watermarks, which I much prefer. I think Count, King & Cult is a great little expansion which I fully support. Great value for your money too!

General / Re: Opinions sought on "base" game and expnasions
« on: March 25, 2013, 01:25:11 AM »
In summary, two questions:
1. What do you consider the essential "base" collection that any Carc sessions should have?
2. What expansion is first on your list when decided which to add?

lol. I'm probably unusual compared to everyone else here, but I almost never play a "base game". I suppose when I'm teaching new people the game, I usually throw in Inns & Cathedrals and nothing else, but when I play with other expansions, I usually leave I&C out and just focus on the new stuff. I generally feel too many expansions dilute all of the expansions negatively. Only a few expansions really interact well together, though many don't conflict. I&C and Traders & Builders works well together. The River II was designed to work directly with Princess & the Dragon, so those two are paired. Likewise, River I and River II are a paired combo (and Corn Circles I & II). Other than those, though, I really don't play common mixed expansions much. I just choose an expansion or two (or three) and try them out together and see what happens. T&B gets no more play than any other expansion really, though most people would proclaim it the best after I&C.

Other Games / Re: Kickstarter Help Wanted

Kickstarter is definitely the bane of my existence. My spending has gotten completely out of control. :'(

Mine too! I've pledged to Small World 2 ($49), Walk the Plank! ($30), and Flash Point ($100!!!). And I also have Gunship: Afterburners possibly in a bit (still haven't played the base game yet...lol) and D-Day Dice: War Stories in a few months. Hopefully nothing else comes out soon that I want because I'm already losing money each month and these "expenses" aren't helping.

Alright, I'll bite: how much for Flash Point (with a crude shipping estimate is fine)? I'm already pledging to KS but I don't want to spend $100 to get everything prior to this expansion.

Definitely pledged the $100 level, but I really can't justify the purchase. I am flat broke right now. I mean FLAT! And there are a bunch of fun Kickstarter I want to back this year.

Other Games / Re: What game is hitting your table?
« on: March 13, 2013, 01:27:18 PM »
I've been playing a bunch of random games lately. Carcassonne has actually been a headliner lately because of all the new Minis. I've tried them all and written reviews for each.

We've also been playing a bunch of Kickstarter goods that have been coming in. Urbanization has been popular with my friends who like Agricola. The Great Heartland Hauling Co. was a last minute backing that has proven to be quite popular and quick to play. Skyline, a spin-off of Ground Floor, has also been getting a bunch of play, though the game seems to be almost entirely luck-based. We haven't yet tried Ground Floor or Gunship: First Strike, though I got both more than two weeks ago.

Last week when we had some friends over, we also played The Settlers of Catan, which hasn't hit our table in quite a while in its original form. We generally play with a few expansions or do a scenario. Agricola was also played for the first time in quite a while two weeks ago.

That pretty much sums it up for now. I have a bunch of games that haven't been played lately or much, The Castles of Burgundy the chief among them. Hopefully those will hit the table soon, though I still want to try out my other new Kickstarter games first.

WOW! Thank you observet03, I guess I was playing the game wrong the entire time. I just reread the rules and I never even noticed that the rules state an even division among players. So we were both supposed to get three sets of tokens. That changes things up a bit. I guess I just assumed that the tokens were distributed in sets of three with a limit. Strange.

Well I still stand by that players are unlikely to use more than three or four of them, though. I mean, sacrificing the placement of a follower to place a piece that may benefit other players as well is not something I'd intentionally do. Generally, my wife and I place a lot of pieces in a game and we rarely have a turn where we are free to place something else. Still, interesting that I missed that...

Then that just means that the people at Spielbox are not the best when it comes to writing rules. I seem to remember Plague having a ton of rules issues, and Tunnels having one or two. I forget about Cathars or their version of Cult, but I certainly wouldn't be surprised if they omitted something or left something unclear.
