Several other common tiles in the base game such as RRRF (4x), CRFR (4x - i.e. the start tile) and either CRRF (3x) or CFRR (3x) depending on the exact configuration would also join the fields in this case.
Or a FFFR (2x - cloister with road)
I'm not sure exactly what kind of knowledge we are already assuming here, but I think you can take the 'How can I join fields?' section down to an even more basic level.

The concept of working from the easier (i.e. assuming someone only has the basic game plus the earlier expansions - River, I&C, T&B) - and then introducing later the more "complex" aspects ... like bridges and other components (don't know the game well enough to give examples).
I know Carc 2.0 is out but most people would have Carc 1.0 and none of the expansions are Carc 2.0 except Abbot. Should this mean that the photos should be Carc 1.0 format as this is most familiar to most people?
But if you attempt, to keep the look consistent over time, it would probably be the better idea to use Carc 2.0 wherever possible and available. Because within the next years it's most likely, that Carc 2.0 will replace the artwork by Doris Matthäus, probably adding new expansions to the new design and then you have extra work to do, replacing all of the old pictures.
