Well, I hope it's not gonna be a re-reprint of The Festival, but then with a 20 on it hahaha

I wanna say something big, but at the same time, maybe a smaller special edition or expansion would be good as well. They've already done the very special limited edition, so maybe something small that a lot of people can get (with an order at cundco for example). Something that can be widely spread amongst all Carcassonne fans, without making it super limited.
We've seen limited editions of the Markets of Leipzig go for high prices, similarly every year with the Spiel Tiles. I'd imagine HiG doesn't want to encourage these high prices (they don't profit from it), so why not distribute something smaller for a low price?
And when I say that, I'm thinking I've basically been describing that it should just be the Spiel '20 tile, free with every order over €20   ::)

The Marketplace / Re: WTB: 4 Каркассон Russian tiles
« on: September 30, 2020, 04:00:19 PM »
Doesn't work for the Russian tiles.
Not only is the back different, they have rounded edges, so even in a bag you can feel the difference. I think they would work best with the Russian boxes, that could work.

I actually have the first set as fan printed tiles as well. This way I can use them in a game, but they don't stand out when pulling them from a bag. The actual tiles are sleeved and stay protected, although maybe I'll do a Russian game one day, and then I'll make sure to include them  ;D

Thank you! Yes, it was really nice. No big party this year, but still had a nice day together with the Mrs

+1 on that!
It's really a nice almost obscure piece of Carcassonne that is very interesting!
I wonder if there are other versions like this out there...

I've gone with Abbey&Mayor this time.
I agree that Inns&Cathedrals are basically part of the base game for many, and Traders&Builders provide some very useful additions as well (in part by putting more focus on cities);
However I recently played a game with Abbey&Mayor expansion, and was a bit surprised on how much I liked it.
The Mayor is a bit of a downside to the expansion, as it's not always as useful as it's made out to be, but the barn is very much a tactical point. And, I always see how bad I am at that, as I can't remember ever winning a game with this expansion, as I just can't seem to predict barn placement, make use of existing barns nor play my own some times.
The wagon might be more used as just an extra meeple, it is at least still an extra meeple!
And the abbey can be very useful in its own right!

In my recent game I was relying on a crfr tile (starting tile), with which I could finish a long road (with an inn), place my barn in my main field, build on my city with cathedral and builder, and use the extra builder turn to finish said city with my Abbey. All came together at the end of the game, and it got me from really far behind to only just losing the game.

So I think it might be a bit of an underrated expansion (or at least in my previous experience), so I've gone for it now  :)

It's not a part of Carcassonne as far as I know. I think the person I got it from added it to the box for some reason. Maybe they thought it was part of the WoF?

No, i haven't got any Russian C2 actually :P
It will be added at one point most likely, but it's not a priority

hahaha, i've actually got the combination of the Russian basegame with the first expansion collection. I think it's called 'Royal Gift'.
It has the Base game, Inns&Cathedrals, Traders&Builders, Abbey&the Mayor and King&Scout.
So yes, you could say i should get those 2 separate, but i won't. This is complete enough, as this has everything that was made by HobbyWorld for C1 :)

I know... After my last post, I could almost hear some people say
"But Willem, there is 1 more version of the WoF that you don't have yet!" And they would be right! Until now...
I got this one finally in today:

This one is even harder to find than the English version, but I got one!!
Many, many, many thanks to Murphy013 for your help with this one!
It also makes my Russian C1 collection complete:

So now the correct group picture:

I'll also see if I can get the collection cleaned up a bit, and I'll take some more pictures  ;D

For UK based: I emailed BoardGameExtras, who normally doesn't hold them in stock, but they ordered a few packs especially for me.

I guess it depends on where you are based? Perhaps try the local game shop, or perhaps Amazon?

I think the best way to preserve tiles is to sleeve them.
There are special sleeves specifically for Carcassonne tiles. 47x47 mm
These will keep the tiles on good condition.

I've got some of my rarest tiles sleeved, such as the Russian promo's, Spiel tiles and signed tiles.
The sleeves are from Swan Sleeves, and a maybe useful blog about them can be found here:

I got this little gem in this morning:

I am still surprised by how hard these are to find tbh, but glad I got it.
I had to then explain to my gf why I had to get it.
And for me it was simple; just so I have the WoF starting tile in all available language versions...

Hahaha, no, not in all languages, that would require a lot of space!
No, more of he's got a big collection like so many of us.
Although come to think of it, some of us might have more  things, like for example the RGG Carcassonne collection (golden) box, which I would understand KJW doesn't have?

Do you keep (at least) 1 copy of every release of Carcassonne (and related)? Including all official expansions, spin offs, etc...
