Hi everyone,
I tried a game with Easter in Carcassonne for the first time today, I recommend all of you to play it at least once with family around Easter time ! :yellow-meeple:
We played using :
- Base game
- Exp. 9: Hills and Sheeps
- Exp. 10: Under the big top
- Easter in Carcassonne
WICA says around 40 eggs are recommended. But with 3 players, 60 eggs were awarded to the players (one got 13, one got 21, and one got 26), even though only half of the Easter nests were completed.
Did some of you already try this expansion? How many eggs were awarded? Should the recommendation from WICA be increased to 60?
I guess, if it is mixed with many expansions, less eggs are required as the density of meeples is lower on the tiles.
And here's another question, WICA says the final scoring is :
The player with the most Easter eggs gets 10 points. The player with the second most Easter eggs gets 5 points. In the event of a tie, all players receive the corresponding points.
https://wikicarpedia.com/index.php/Easter_in_Carcassonne_(1st_edition)#Final_scoring (https://wikicarpedia.com/index.php/Easter_in_Carcassonne_(1st_edition)#Final_scoring)
But the scoring after the game says:
2 points / Easter egg
https://wikicarpedia.com/index.php/Scoring_After_the_Game (https://wikicarpedia.com/index.php/Scoring_After_the_Game)
One of those pages is mistaken, which is true, 2 points per Easter eggs, or 10 / 5 points per players?

indeed fun game, I had introduced a special rule that gave treats when the Easter egg tile is circled like the monater (so the game plus the obligatory chocolate egg basket)

The final rules by HiG mention two packets of small chocolate Easter eggs, but no reference to the actual number of eggs. The fan-made version by Fritz_Spinne, used as starting points, mentioned 40 small chocolate eggs. I included this information as a footnote in case a "packet" does not give you a idea of the number of small chocolate eggs required, like in my case.
Files for original fan-made version by Fritz_Spinne:

I would say that if you think 60 eggs is a better number, go with it.
In any case, if @Fritz_Spinne reads this, you may shed some light on this matter. Thanks in advance.

Oooops! The 2 points per Easter eggs mentioned in the Scoring After the Game page seems a mistake. I updated the page already to align the scoring with the HiG version of the rules.
Thanks for noticing and letting us know!
Have fun and don't eat all the chocolate eggs yourself... ;)

I feel like I'm going to have a pain in my liver

We thought you didn't like chocolate at all... >:D

I'm the one who got only 13 eggs, so my liver's going well... I can't say the same about my wife's liver, who got 26 eggs! :yellow-meeple:
Thanks for the correction on WICA ;)

My pleasure!
So enjoy a happy digestion and be ready for some more chocolate!

Hi, a message from the author:
My orignial rule doesn't say anything about the number of easter eggs, ("zahlreiche Ostereier", that is "many easter eggs")
End scoring was: 10 points for the player with most easter eggs, in case of more than 2 players 5 points for the scond most easter eggs. Only for eggs that were not eaten until then ...
The HiG rule says "zwei Packungen" / "two packets", in Germany this could be about 60 eggs, I think.
Here it is 5 points for the second most easter eggs everytime not only for more than 2 players.
Good Easter Times and a bunch of easter eggs for all of you!

Hi Fritz_Spinne,
Thank you so much for your help and for clarifying the number of Easter eggs and the scoring!
Have a great Easter Season! ;D
-
I updated WICA in order to incorporate these clarifications.

@Fritz_Spinne All your comments are most welcome. ;D
Thank you again for your prompt reply.

Thanks for those answers! :)
60 eggs seems more appropriate :yellow-meeple:

Personally, I used a home office laser printer, printing 600 dpi on adhesive paper, that I then cutted using a blade cutter and placed on blank tiles. The quality was good enough. :yellow-meeple:
And I did the same with the City Gates and the Fortune teller ;)

I don’t want to hijack the thread with a different topic, but it’s good to know as a possibility. I’d have to get something new. I have one that is really good for scanning/copying/collating large documents, reports, and legal filings...but not too good with color. Might you either PM some high-res pics or start a thread in the appropriate sub-forum to let me see how they look to compare with Dr. Keep Le’s professionally printed ones, please? - :pink-meeple:

Did you check this topic? It discusses the approach mentioned by Corinthiens13.

Here's a picture of an Easter in Carcassonne tile, The City Gates (sleeved), and the Fortune Teller (sleeved).
Catapult (sleeved) and base game tiles are original ones, for comparison.

That's quite impressive. One of these days when I get some more time, I'll have to look into this more. That's quite good indeed. - :pink-meeple:
