06.06.14: Carcassonne came in the year 2000 on the market and a year later, game of the year won the German game prize as well as the title, the game was further expanded with numerous extensions by Klaus-Juergen Wrede, has seen but also a few rule changes. Over the years numerous game instructions and guidelines have accumulated. American Chris Ober has itself made the effort and combined a comprehensive compendium of all rules and regulations. The latest extensions of "Sheep and Hills" and "Monasteries" are included in the current issue. Meanwhile, the plant has grown to 300 pages. However, it exists only in English. Can be downloaded the "Carcassonne Annotated Rules" at BoardGameGeek. The numerous Carcassonne does not include derivatives such as "Hunters and Gatherers", "Mayflower", "South Pacific", etc.Update: There is something to add. The origin of the "Carcassonne annotated rules" - called insiders short "CAR" - go to the website.Carcassonne Central back. Numerous rule questions are addressed in close cooperation with the Hans-im-Glueck Publisher can be found in the Forum. These responses are then reflected in new editions of the CAR. Even if the entire correspondence in English, which remain the official basis for all questions of rule, as the English-language versions of "Carcassonne" Hans-im-Glueck rules (formerly Rio Grande games, now Z-man) occasionally deviate from the German originals. Also the rules for some Carcassonne derivatives as well as fan extensions can be found at Carcassonne Central.(Thanks to "kettlefish" for additional information)
Very cool, though I feel Matthew Harper should probably be mentioned as the person who came up with the idea and maintained it for many years before Chris Ober took over. I don't want to downplay Ober's contribution, which is great and far surpasses Harper's, but Harper was the brains behind the idea and owned it for many years first.
I've told KMW about Matt Harper, but KMW didn't write anything about Matt.
